Best catches beyond the boundary - stunning efforts from spectators!

NAR133

Its thrilling to watch some great catches by cricketers in the stadium, but sometimes the spectators themselves become the centre of attraction, taking some spectacular catches in the stands.Surely, thereve been numerous catches taken by someone in the crowd in the long history of cricket, but here are a few in modern cricket which have been captured on video

#1 Full marks for commitment

Okay, so this one isn’t actually a catch, but just look at that effort!

Mind you, the risk was worth the effort as the competition in New Zealand cricket grounds offered $100,000 to any spectator taking a one-handed catch! The ball was always going to be out of his reach, but he decided to throw literally everything at it!

#2 The $100,000 catch

During the same series, this lucky man became the first recipient of that $100,000 award, taking a brilliant one-handed catch in the stands!

#3 The other $100,000 catch

So this bloke, Jatinder Singh, an Indian origin student living in New Zealand, watching an India-NZ match, took a blinder to claim the $100,000 award!

How lucky was that! Blinded by the bloke in front of him, he still managed to hold on to the ball. Spectacular stuff!

#4 Not a drop spilled

Another one-handed gem, and this time the guy manages to pull off a one-handed screamer with a drink in his other hand, and not a single drop spilled from his glass.

Now that, is a class act sir!

#5 Give that ball boy a medal

New Zealand vs England 2013 – In the 1st ODI, BJ Watling had just dropped a sitter in the previous over.

Then Ian Bell decided to play a hook shot which sailed over a jumping Mitchell Mcclenaghan and over the ropes, but couldn’t beat the ball boy casually sitting near the advertisement boards. Blinded by Mcclenaghan, this kid showed everyone how it’s done. Cool as a cucumber!

#6 The one-handed miracle

If all-round I-can-bowl-bat-field-you-name-it cricketers weren’t enough for New Zealand, their spectators too aren’t far behind.

In a domestic match between Wellington and Auckland, this guy, quite nonchalantly, pulled off one of the most incredible one-handed catch! Take a bow!

#7 Jonty Rhodes spotted

So you come to the cricket, buy yourself something to eat and drink, and are casually walking towards your seats. Suddenly, a huge six is hit and you see the ball hurtling towards you. What do you do? Dodge it? No.

This young man just held his food under one arm, jumped straight up and caught hold of the ball with his outstretched left hand. How incredible is that!?
