The transfer mill is expected to be the same this time around with many clubs seeking reinforcements and many players seeking a new start. There has been a buzz around many players and clubs, with players seeking moves away from their respective clubs for various reasons from playing time to better contracts. Nonetheless, the January window is poised to give us some interesting news.Here are the transfer news and rumours for the day.

#1 Serie A

Ricky Alvarez has joined Sampdoria

- Sampdoria confirmed that they have signed Ricky Alvarez who was a free agent after legal disputes with former club Inter. The 27-year-old has agreed a six-month deal with the club after passing a medical.

“I really wanted to come back,” Alvarez said. “I'm keen on staying here and I'm very driven. Over the last six months, I had a number of problems that meant I had to stop, but I feel okay now. Samp are a great team, they have some excellent footballers and they did well last year. It's a really good challenge for me.”

- According to Corriere dello sport, Roma are planning to launch a bid for out of favour Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen. The defender is worth around €6 million and could move in search of playing time.

- AC Milan are set to launch a bid for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini according to the Metro. United are expected to demand a fee of around £14.8million and the Serie A giants are more than willing to offer a bid in the same region.

#2 La Liga

Real Madrid are interested in Marcos Rojo

- According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are considering a bid for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo. Rafa Benitez is looking for a backup to Marcelo and the Argentine fits the bill perfectly. However, Rojo has not played a single game since November after dislocating his shoulder in training.

- Malaga are reportedly interested in West Ham striker Mauro Zarate, the Mirror reports. He has fallen down the pecking order at Upton Park and has scored five goals in 20 appearances during his current spell with the club.

- According to Lluis Miguelsanz, “talks are advanced" over Denis Suarez's move to Barcelona but Villarreal are not ready to let him go unless they find a replacement. Real Madrid’s Denis Cheryshev is reportedly their primary target.

#3 English Premier League

Chelsea are set to step up their pursuit for Alex Teixeira

- Chelsea are set to add fuel to their pursuit for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Alex Teixeira reports Fichajes. The influence of Willian, who had earlier played with the player at Shakhtar, is expected to help in negotiating a deal.

- Manchester United are apparently planning to trigger Barcelona star Neymar’s £140 million release clause in the summer according to Goal. United are willing to wait for the Brazilian and could announce him as their marquee signing next summer.

- According to the Mirror, Watford and AFC Bournemouth are set to battle it out for Malaga goalkeeper Carlos Kameni. The 31-year-old has a £1m release clause and the English clubs are said to be alert about the situation.

#4 Rest of Europe

Premier League clubs are monitoring Ronaldinho’s situation

- Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho has recieved more than one call from England according to his brother and agent Roberto. The 35-year-old is currently a free agent and is seeking a new club.

“He still wants to play. He has never had serious injuries; his body is in perfect condition. I think he has three or four years left to him, maybe more. It is not about money,” Roberto added.

“He just wants to play. That is when I see him at his happiest.”

- PSG are expecting a bid from Tottenham for Ezequiel Lavezzi according to ESPN. The Argentine had earlier talked about a move away from France after failing to get enough playing time this season.

- Galatasaray’s Kevin Grosskreutz is set to return to the Bundesliga after agreeing a deal with Stuttgart according to LigTV. Galatasaray signed Grosskreutz from Dortmund last summer but were unable to register the 26-year-old after failing to send over the necessary paperwork to FIFA before the transfer deadline. Stuttgart have paid Grosskreutz a little under €1 million in wages.
