Zlatan Ibrahimovic could resolve Manchester United’s striker issues

Manchester United are lining up a shock move for PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose contract ends with the French champions at the end of the season, as per the reports on TalkSport. Clubs in Major League Soccer and the middle-east have also expressed their interest in the Swedish striker, but United have joined the race to land the striker in England.

Louis van Gaal’s strikers have been poor in front of goal this season but adding the likes of Ibrahimovic in the squad could help ease Wayne Rooney’s goalscoring burden. The former AC Milan forward could be secured on a free next summer. However, one potential stumbling block is the 34-year-old striker’s high wages, which is currently £230,000-a-week.

Arsenal full back Mathie Debuchy has hinted at an exit from the Emirates in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports. The French international joined the Gunners in the summer of 2014 from Newcastle United but several injuries have seen him sidelined and even benched in Arsene Wenger’s side with youngster Hector Bellerin prefered at right back since last season.

“I am dealing with it. I am trying to stay strong. We are going to remain concentrated until December, after that I will see,” said Debuchy in an interview.

Manchester City are targeting Benfica’s highly rated midfielder Nicolas Gaitan who has been priced at £24 million by the Portuguese club, but they are set to be faced with stiff competition from rivals United and Arsenal, as per Mirror.

The Argentina international has been impressive for Benfica this season and his ability to play either in central midfield or on the wing has benefited the club. Gaitan’s performance in midweek was praised by many, but he was dismissed late on after receiving two yellow cards.
