Top 5 performers in WWE who are not active wrestlers

The art of wrestling does not just include the skill of wrestling. As famous as the saying is, a wrestler cannot actually make a show be a long runner just by wrestling a broom. What makes a wrestling match special is not necessarily the result of the match but the build up towards it. The build up can signify ones potential as a performer in the world of wrestling. A wrestling match in the WWE is not made successful by just the two or more wrestlers involved in it, it is the contribution of a whole lot more of people who are not active wrestlers. Heck, they never were wrestlers.Just like that WWE has on screen personas who do a great job without even lacing up a pair of boots. Here are those top five performers

#1 Renee Young

Ever since she made her way to the main roster, the effortless way in which she conducts her interviews and carries herself has earned her much praise from many. Even Stone Cold Steve Austin, during the Hall of Fame ceremony, told her, “I like your enthusiasm.” It isn’t just the wrestling industry that contains her admirers but reportedly ESPN has showed an interest in gaining her expertise for their shows. She hasn’t really made any botches yet and it seems her dream of becoming a color commentator on WWE might come true in the near future given that she is well aware of the history of the company she’s currently working for.

#2 Zeb Colter

Grandpa Zeb singlehandedly with a microphone brought attention to a couple of superstars who were familiar with being jobbers. He made the ‘We the People’ chants the new cool. This chant was easily the most popular chant after ‘Yes’. The team of Cesaro and Swagger might have broken up but the mere sight of Zeb Colter and Paul Heyman going face to face is magic. The dedication with which Colter talks about the issue of migration easily makes him the poster child (grandfather) for “anti-illegal immigrant beliefs”.

#3 Stephanie McMahon

Many have dubbed her as the best heel of the past year and I am one of them. I am also the one with belief that Stephanie McMahon is Daniel Bryan’s biggest nemesis. She’s vicious with her barbs a fierce is her trademark slap. She is just so easy to hate. She’s really taken her father’s legacy forward and by that I don’t mean the company, I mean the heel-ness.

She has never disappointed whenever she’s involved in a storyline. Adding Stephanie into the mix just makes things more must-watch. Otherwise, who in the world could have cared about her wrestling match with Trish or Sable or Vince McMahon.

#4 Paul Heyman

Arguably, the best promo guy in the WWE right now. Of course, Bray Wyatt is also under consideration but give Paul Heyman a microphone and you’ll surely listen. And this fact isn’t some weeks or months old like Wyatt but many years in the making. Paul Heyman is an MVP on the mic and he can make anyone seem legit by just standing beside them. Of course, every great subject has an exception or two and those exceptions for Heyman are Ryback and Axel. Come what may and I really mean come ‘WHAT’ may, he can make all those chants disappear and still end up as the last man talking.

#5 JBL

JBL isn’t an active wrestler anymore. He isn’t J.R on the commentary. He is the first, one and only JBL. When the wrestlers are not allowed to or can’t put on a good show, JBL is always there for the rescue.

He has been a voice that the WWE really needed- a heel voice that can be funny and piercing at the same time. Before him, the commentary was done by what Paul Heyman succinctly put “the two other things that they call announcers”.

Here are some of his gems.

"The hairy Cinderella has just seen midnight"- referring to Bryan potentially getting owned by Triple H at the post Wrestlemania Raw.

“Throwin’ him around like a sugarbag.”- on the after math of a Cesaro Swing

“Big.E ruined my whole Christmas.”- after Big E prevented Cesaro from pulling off the giant swing on Henry

“Somebody call PETA”- referring to the bull El Torrito in Los Metadores

“Where do you get your facts? The Onion?” – to Cole, who calls himself a journalist just BTW.

“This Sunday the WWE Champion might be a farm animal.” On Daniel Bryan.

“Randy Orton is bigger than Gareth Bale. He should be on the cover of Sports Illustrated.”

“If Rihanna and Chris Brown can get together so can Paul Heyman and CM Punk”

And finally…..

“Would you call the match? I’m begging you.” – JBL during THE main event to the two other things.
