6 Wrestlers who could join the Authority

Only way back to relevancy for Ziggler?

Scouting for Authority’s next poster boy?Whether he wins the WWE World Title, it would appear Roman Reigns is going to be the at the center of controversy among the family that has helped him become a star.Survivor Series just got a bit more interesting.Word on allwrestlingnews.com is both Triple H and Vince McMahon have gone back and forth over how the company is going to portray the new leader of the wrestling world. The struggle might be real as far as the two figureheads trying to determine first how Reigns will win the title and second what will happen once the belt is fastened to his waist. It was reported earlier this week that WWE officials have discussed turning Roman Reigns or Dean Ambrose heel in the near future. To add to the report, Triple H is very supportive of turning Reigns heel so he can be aligned with The Authority.Vince McMahon, however, isn’t sold on the idea. He’s been very reluctant to turn Reigns heel and would prefer to make either Ambrose or Dolph Ziggler a lead villainI say split the difference, test the waters to see if a Reigns heel turn generates heat from the fans. If it works, the transition back to a face champion can only work wonders for his career.Reigns turned down the Authority’s offer to become the new front man in exchange for an almost guarantee of winning the company title. Like a good guy, Reigns turns it down and we have all seen how it plays out. Now, we sit and wait for Sunday night and how Reigns finally achieves his dream. But after all this plays out, who becomes the new face of The Authority, or better yet, who sides with Triple H, as it seems he is the only figure head that matters right now. Here are a few performers who might be considered.

#1 Dolph Ziggler

Only way back to relevancy for Ziggler?

Ziggler needs something more on his resume than toying with Tyler Breeze and another love triangle involving Summer Rae. A rebranding of sorts would work wonders.

What if Ziggler was the one who challenged Reigns once he wins the title, preferably on Monday night? His look is a bit darker, his hair is its natural color and he is accompanied by Triple H?

The best thing about Ziggler is he sells no matter what side of the fence he sits and yes, when it comes to performing in that situation, he is a version of Shawn Michaels in his early years. Ziggler would be a world champion in the old NWA or AWA or even TNA today, if given the chance.

I like Vince’s idea of making him a heel. But realistically, I don’t see it happening anytime soon.

#2 Kevin Owens

Owens as the next Triple H guy makes the most sense

I love Owens in the current position he plays with WWE.

Owens is the future of this company. He is also able to work with any wrestler on the roster. Owens had a conversation with Triple H on Raw Monday night and just like the commentators, we all would like to have known what was said.

The premise of taking Owens on as the new man in Triple H’s stable is simple. Once Reigns is done battling Dean Ambrose, the Intercontinental Champion is lying in wait for his prey. Reigns-Owens is a feud worth watching.

Owens can play the heel champion better than most and could also become a face champion in the future. Ever since he arrived in a WWE ring, everything he has done has come out smelling like roses.

#3 Sheamus

Would the Shaemus-Triple H dynamic work?

There is a belief McMahon wants to make Sheamus the top heel in the company or align him with The Authority.

Personally, I hate that idea.

Sheamus is a man without a place in the company other than as a tag team wrestler and a jobber. Should he finally cash in his Money in the Bank contract, would it mean he wins and hands the belt over to Triple H? It would be a great angle, and would make the Irishman valuable again.

Sheamus is a great brawler, but he is either liked or hated – there is nothing in between. Alignment with Triple H gives him instant credibility.

.

#4 Dean Ambrose

The Lunatic heel?

My friend, Tom Clark, believes Ambrose is the perfect antithesis to challenge The Authority. Ambrose is every bit Roddy Piper, Steve Austin and Brian Pillman.

What I like about Ambrose is his unpredictable nature, which is quite opposite of what Triple H is looking for to be the new head of his little club.

I do not see Ambrose changing his stripes to join the establishment, but I can see him turning on his best friend – either at Survivor Series or on Monday night once the belt has been handed over. The thought of a Reigns-Ambrose feud to end the year at TLC and to start the year at the Royal Rumble is a great way to start things off right.

.

#5 Roman Reigns

Triple H and Vince at loggerheads over Reigns?

Before it is all said and done, I am not sold on the idea Reigns does not turn heel once he wins the title. What if the conversation between he and Triple H was a “fix” and the plan all along was to bring Reigns in as the newest Authority figure.

Vince will be pissed if this actually happens, or he gives in and lets the former member of the Shield to sink or swim. Either way, Reigns is the here and now. Reigns was always the third wheel with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose and has a look that screams villain.

If there is a belief at the beginning of Survivor Series that the crowd will turn on Reigns should he win at the end of the night, there might be a change in the script.

#6 John Cena

Cena turning heel would make the ratings go through the roof

I’ve been pimping a Cena heel turn once he makes his triumphant return to the ring. Hulk Hogan and Daniel Bryan have both publically stated they would like to see Cena turn heel. It may not have been related to Survivor Series, but they both have endorsed it in the past.

What if Cena came back to a roar from the crowd, a la Hulk Hogan, and shocks the world, challenging Roman Reigns? Out walks Triple H and the two men shake hands in the middle of the ring, cementing the second biggest swerve in wrestling history.

Cena turning heel guarantees ratings and rebirth in the company.
