Future sports events that would make you feel old

Any upcoming major sport's event can pump your blood with excitement and give you one more reason to live another day. But there is a downside to looking forward to such events. As you wait in eager anticipation for one great event to lead to another, you fail to notice that you are getting old. For example, if you are in your twenties now then you may be married by the time 2028 Summer Olympics comes around or even have a family. If you are in your seventies, then you might never want that 2028 to come.

Here, we look at a list of future sporting events that will make you feel very old. Relatively.

1. 2023 Cricket World Cup:

In India, no other sport can beat cricket for the passion it inspires. India both hosted and won the last World Cup in 2011, and in 2019 it will be held in England. But if it is another home tournament that you are looking forward to, then you will have to wait for another five years for the 2023 World Cup, which will be returning to India.

Are you excited yet? But wait! Don't be too eager for the time jump because by that point there will be no Dhoni and possibly even no Kohli.

2. UEFA Euro 2024:

It is always exciting to see Europe’s best footballing nations competing against each other on the pitch. It was fewer than two years ago that Portugal won the tournament, but even with our memories so fresh, it won’t be long before UEFA will decide on the host nation for Euro 2024.

So, who would you be watching the tournament with, if it were happening right now? By 2024, it is highly possible that you will have to take your children to the games rather than enjoy them with your current friends.

3. 2026 FIFA World Cup:

Of all the future tournaments, this is perhaps the one I am looking forward to the most, but knowing that I will be eight years older makes me think that perhaps I shouldn’t wish away the years!

So, who will you be cheering for in 2026? If you think it will be Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, or Coutinho, think again! Many of the superstars will be retired by then. So maybe it is not the time to look ahead but rather to savor the present.

4. 2028 Summer Olympics:

Although the 2016 Summer Olympics seem like only yesterday, planning for the 2020 and 2024 games have already started in Tokyo and Paris, respectively. But if you are waiting for the 2028 games in Los Angeles, then remember you will be 10 years older by 2028!

So, which future sporting event is making you feel old? Please comment below.
