After securing just three gold medals in the first two days of South Asian Games 2019, India bounced back in style on day 3 by winning 12 golds.

India won gold in four team events, including men's and women's badminton, as well as volleyball.

The Indian shooters also ruled the roost in Nepal as they won the gold in multiple events. Chain Singh and Sheoran Akhil won the gold and silver respectively in 50m Rifle 3 while the Indian women swept all the three medals in the 10m Air Rifle competition.

Yogesh Singh and Gurpreet Singh finished in the top two positions of the 25m Center Fire Pistol to ensure that India's medal tally received a major boost.

In the track and field events, India won the gold in the men's 1500m race, men's high jump, women's high jump and women's 100m race. Unfortunately, the men could not win a single medal in the 100m race.

Indian athletes also secured silver and bronze medals in other events. Sarvesh Anil broke the South Asian Games record in High Jump by recording a leap of 2.25m. The previous record was 2.24m, held by M. Wijsekara.

Kashish Malik secured the gold medal in women's 57 kg Taekwondo while Anjul won the bronze medal in the men's Chan Quan Thaulo Wushu event.

The kabaddi event will begin tomorrow and India will fancy their chances of another gold medal.

They currently trail Nepal by 8 gold medals and will look to close the gap in tomorrow's events.
