Indian contingent to depart for Women's World Team Squash Championship

The Indian squash contingent departs tonight for the Women’s World Team Squash Championship to be held in Nimes, France 12th to 17th November 2012. This event will be staged in France for the first time in its 33-year history of squash.

The India team is led by 21 year old, world no. 14 Dipika Pallikal and her teammates include the experienced Joshana Chinappa (world no. 32), Asian Junior Champion Anaka Alankamony (world no. 73) and junior no. 2 Aparajitha Balamurukan (world no.142). Cyrus Poncha and Maj. (R). S. Manaim will travel as the coaches for the squad.

In 2010 the Indian lasses finished in 11th position and are confident of doing better this time. Seeded 10th, the girls will have to defeat Ireland and Argentina to top their pool before playing the round of 16 against the corresponding country from pool H.

Argentina, Korea and Namibia will compete for the first time in this edition where a record 26 nations will take part in the biennial WSF event.
