8 Indians participated in the KL Junior Open 2013.Sunayana Kuruvilla (Gu15) lost in the final to Seed no 2 Nur Alaih of Malaysia to return home with a silver medal. Kanhav Nanavati (Bu11) lost in the semifinal to the top seed of the tournament Ishant Shah from Malaysia in a five-setter match. He then managed to beat 3/4 seed Lee Kah Choon of Malaysia to win the bronze medal.
