Kush Kumar registered a comfortable 11-4, 11-2, 11-7 win over Australia’s Jason Holmes on Monday.
The Indian never looked in trouble against Holmes as he dictated play from the back of the court with some brilliant shots. Holmes did try to put up a fight in the third game, but Kumar denied him to extend the match into a fourth game.
Kumar won his first PSA title at the Tasmanian Open last month before reaching the quarterfinals of the Victorian Open. The 19-year-old will take on Czech Republic’s Martin Svec in the second round of qualification on Tuesday.
