Former NFL running back Alex Collins has died, according to Monday evening announcements from the Ravens and Seahawks.
Collins died in a motorcycle crash in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., at around 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, as stated by the Broward County Sheriff's Office. He was declared dead on-site by responding authorities.
Both Baltimore & Seattle expressed grief for Collins. He was with the Seahawks in 2016 and '20-'21 and the Ravens in '17-'18. Last season, he played for the USFL's Memphis Showboats.
During his 5-year NFL tenure, he accumulated 1,997 rushing yards, 18 TDs, 467 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown.
At Arkansas, Collins ran for 3,703 yards in 3 seasons, placing second in school history after McFadden & the 18th-highest total in the history of the SEC.
He may be best remembered for his role in one of the wildest plays in Razorbacks history—a fourth-&-25 against Ole Miss, Collins caught a lateral from TE Henry & gained 31 yards, saving first down.
"May Alex always be remembered for the light and love he brought to so many people in his life," Baltimore said in its statement.
