CFP predictions: Georgia, Alabama among contenders

The CFP National Championship predictions are here, just in time for the start of the college football season. Today, we'll look at the four clubs that might make up the four-team playoff bracket and talk about what makes them contenders this year.

Georgia Bulldogs – The Bulldogs will attempt to make history by winning three national championships in a row. Last year, the program made it clear that they were being underappreciated by the media before going undefeated and defending their national title. This time, there will be no under-rating.

Although the Bulldogs lost important players to the NFL Draft, HC Kirby Smart has demonstrated in the past that he is not afraid of dealing with a roster change. Mykel Williams, a sophomore, is ready to be the next great Georgia pass rusher, and Malaki Starks, Javon Bullard, and Tykee Smith anchor the secondary.

Alabama Crimson Tide – It is strange to see the Crimson Tide not be the outright favorites to win like they once were. However, their recent form has left many questions unanswered. The SEC has only gotten stronger this season and the Crimson Tide will be going up against the Georgia Bulldogs as the underdogs. However, if there's one coach that thrives under this kind of pressure, it's seven-time champion Nick Saban.

New OC Tommy Rees will take over an offense that is now riddled with questions. First and foremost, who will be the starting quarterback? In other areas, RB Justice Haynes and RT JC Latham are anticipated to make significant contributions this season. Dallas Turner is anticipated to cause havoc on defense. Kool-Aid McKinstry, one of the top cornerbacks in the NCAA, linked up with Trey Amos via the transfer portal to form a deadly CB combo.

Ohio State BuckeyesOnly one Big Ten member will make it between Ohio State and Michigan. Ohio State has a little advantage. Despite having junior quarterback Kyle McCord, their blazing guns Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka will seek to dominate.

Their defense is also excellent. JT Tuimoloau, Michael Hall, Ty Hamilton, and Jack Sawyer will lead the front seven. With coach Ryan Day in charge, this squad should make the CFP National Championship predictions list.

USC Trojans Last season, the Trojans finished 8-1, with their only defeat coming against Utah, whom they also lost to in the Pac-12 championship game. But it's a new season, and they'll be back with an offense that averaged 41.4 points per game last year and a remade defense that hopes to improve on the 29.2 points allowed.

The defense has improved a lot since then, and this team will be looking to run through the Pac-12 in their final year before joining the Big Ten themselves. The USC Trojans will be expected as favorites to make it to the CFB National Championship predictions list.
