Frank Salemme, the former leader of Patriarca crime family, passed away on December 13, in a federal prison located in Missouri.

At the time of his death, Salemme, also known as "Cadillac Frank," was serving a prison sentence on charges of murder and racketeering.

Salemme was best known for his leadership of the Patriarca crime family in the Boston area, where he served as its head from 1991 to 1995.

He was given a sentence of 11 years in prison for racketeering charges.

Later on, he testified against other criminal members in return for a reduced sentence.

In 2018, Salemme was arrested and convicted of a 1993 cold case murder, and was sentenced to life in prison.

He was serving time for the homicide conviction at the time of his passing.

Frank Salemme's death marked the end of an era for the criminal underworld in Boston.
