Mt. Crushmore: Meet the San Diego Padres fab four heralding championship aspirations

The San Diego Padres have ensembled a strong batting lineup this season. It consists of a fabulous four who are arguably the best quartet in the league.  Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Juan Soto and Xander Bogaerts

Since 2019. the Padres have had the exploits of Tatis and Machado. Juan Soto was included in the 2021-22 offseason before Bogaerts was added in the current one from the Boston Red Sox.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Position: Shortstop/Outfield

Tatis had been very good for the Padres since 2019. He had scintilating individual 2021 season but a suspension midway last year meant he had to sit out for the most part. Padres would be lucky to have him back.

Manny Machado  Position: Third Base

One of baseball's top third basemen, going around Manny Machado has proved himself not just with the bat but in defence too. He signed a recent contract extension with the Padres and will be looking to win his first World Series.

Juan Soto Position: Outfielder

Juan Soto is yet to have a full season at San Diego. His trade was finalised only in August last season but Soto enjoyed a great run with the Nationals where he would win the 2019 World Series.

Xander Bogaerts Position: Shortstop

The newest recruit of the top four, Bogaerts signed on from the Red Sox in the offseason for an 11-year $280 million contract. He would be looking forward to carry his rich form with the Padres.

Best Four in comparison

As predictions are coming in for the regular season, it seems quite evident that the Padres top four is the stand out in the league. They are stated to a collective fWAR of 21.9 in the 2023 season.

Padres' Lineup

The Padres are expected to go ahead with the lineup that evenly distributes their four batters and their own self preferences 1. Bogaerts  2. Soto 3. Machado  4. Tatis

Once Tatis returns from injury on the April 20th, this lineup would be firing with all guns blazing.
