A single defining moment for Newscastle’s collapse would be the signing of Tino Asprilla which unbalanced the squad.

Newcastle United 1995-96

With a lead of 12 points, a collapse  wasn’t in the cards but back to back defeats to Liverpool and Blackburn after leading in both games led to a disastrous end to the season.

Man U were 13 points clear of Arsenal  who had 3 games in hand at the start  of March, though it seemed achievable, United was on a winning spree.

Manchester United 1997-98

After 13 months without consecutive losses, United faced a quick barrage of punches from Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham, and eventual champions, Arsenal.

With 6 games left in the season, Man U was 8 points clear of rivals, Man City  and the title was beyond the grasp of  the Cityzens.

Manchester United 2011-12

Man City, later capitalized on United’s shocking losses and refused to blink  until the final game day as Aguero won  it in the 94th minute for City.

Liverpool was on a 16-game unbeaten streak with a 5-point lead at the top  when Chelsea visited Anfield.

Liverpool  2013-14

Steven Gerrard’s unfortunate slip in his own half after miscontrolling a simple pass and Chelsea eventually winning 2-0 put Liverpool’s title hopes in jeopardy.

Later in an away match against Crystal Palace, Liverpool squandered a 3 goals lead in the final 11 minutes putting  Man City in pole position to win the title.
