Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Eoin Morgan failed to get going in IPL 2021. He stuck with the same side despite a series of poor displays. KKR won just 2 of their 7 matches under Morgan, and are second from the bottom in the league table.

DAVID WARNER (SRH)

IPL 2021 was a season to forget for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) star David Warner. Warner was removed from SRH captaincy and replaced by Kane Williamson in the end after the side plummeted to the bottom of the league rankings.

There is no doubt of KL Rahul’s ability as a batsman, but not so much with his captaincy. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper relied more on individual brilliance than collective effort, which saw them slump to sixth in the table.

After starting the IPL 2021 season slowly, Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma managed to find his feet back and help his side to fourth in the league table. MI won 4 of their 7 matches under their most successful captain this season.

SANJU SAMSON (RR)

It is not ideal to offer a captain who won just 3 of his 7 IPL 2021 matches the fourth spot. However, Sanju Samson exceeded expectations in his first season as Rajasthan Royals captain despite lack of prominent Indian stars and overseas players.

VIRAT KOHLI (RCB)

It finally seemed like the season for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and skipper Virat Kohli, though they lost a few of their final games. Kohli looked mature with his decisions and RCB were third before the tournament got suspended.

RISHABH PANT (DC)

It is still early days, but Rishabh Pant proved himself at the biggest stage by leading Delhi Capitals (DC) to the top of the table in IPL 2021. The tournament’s youngest skipper showed maturity to lead a side packed with stars.

After a dismal IPL 2020 campaign nobody expected Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to bounce back the way they did this season. MS Dhoni once again proved why he is the best when it comes to leading a side, helping CSK to second in the table.
