Back in January 2019, Third Eye Blind announced the 35-city Summer Gods Tour, which also features Jimmy Eat World and Ra Ra Riot. Produced by Live Nation, the North American amphitheater tour will kick off on June 14th at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and wrap on August 3rd in Irvine, California at the FivePoint Amphitheatre.

Third Eye Blind has been touring more green every year. The band and its crew have been free of water bottles since 2017. This year, to offset the tour’s carbon footprint, Third Eye Blind will be voluntarily investing in a carbon offset project in Alaska managed by ClimeCo, The American Land Conservancy, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Additionally, to offset audience travel -- the biggest source of carbon emissions from the tour -- a portion of each ticket sold will support a U.S.-based ClimeCo carbon offset project.

For a limited time, discounted $20 tickets for the Summer Gods Tour will be available via Live Nation, thanks to National Concert Week. This event runs from May 1st to 7th.

Said Jenkins in a press release about the tour itself: “Music and surfing are all foundational in my life and the longer I go, the more so it is not a big step to seek to make our tours ocean friendly... Simple - skip single use plastic, carbon offsets and encourage other along the way.“ In turn, while interviewing Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins, I snuck in a few questions about his history with sports.

I know you're a surfer. But you were ever a competitive athlete? Or more of a sports fan than a music fan?

Stephan Jenkins: Never more sports than music, but our music is always about aliveness and it needs to be played with your whole body, so I try to live best I can as an athlete and that puts me in alignment with being a musician.

Do you have a favorite sports team at the moment?

Stephan Jenkins: Dubs!

What was the last live sporting event you attended?

Stephan Jenkins: I will be at the [Warriors] playoff game tonight.

Do you remember the first time you heard one of your songs used in a sports context?

Stephan Jenkins: I can’t remember when they weren’t being used, but I think it was somebody having some miserable ski accident on a promotional for [ABC's] Wide World Of Sports.

Finally, what do you wish more people knew about Stephan Jenkins?

Stephan Jenkins: Savory not sweet, friend to puppies and the shy types, and I would hold my tongue but I can’t help it.
