Chennai Super Kings is a cricket franchise which makes its appearances in the Indian Premier League. Popularly known as CSK, the team was founded in 2008 by India Cements and has been one of the most dominant teams in the Indian Premier League.

2008

The Chennai Super Kings had a lot of prominent players such Michael Hussey and Muttiah Muralitharan along with the skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The team entered the finals but was defeated by Rajasthan Royals.

2009

The Chennai Super Kings failed to enter the finals as they faced a defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the semifinals, who had their best performance that season.

2010

The Chennai Super Kings won their first title in 2010, after they beat Mumbai Indians to win the match.

2011

The team retained its title, and won two IPL tournaments in a row and became the first team to do so.

2012

The Super Kings reached the finals once again, but a hat-trick title was prevented by the Kolkata Knight Riders who won their first title that season.

2013

With another journey to the final, the CSK were stopped this time by Mumbai Indians who claimed their first IPL Title.

2014

After a long time, the Chennai Super Kings failed to reach the finals but had a great season in the CLT20.

2015

Once again, the Chennai Super Kings lost a final to the Mumbai Indians.

2016

The team was suspended.

2017

The team was suspended.

2018

The team returned to the league and won its third IPL title.

2019

Chennai Super Kings reached the finals, but failed to win their fourth title.

2020

It was the first IPL season where the Chennai Super Kings participated but did not qualify for the playoffs.

2021

The Chennai Super Kings added Moeen Ali, Krishnappa Gowtham, Cheteshwar Pujara, MH Reddy, KB Varma and C Hari Nishaanth to their squad.

They came back strongly in this season and won their 4th IPL title after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.

2022

Chennai Super Kings had a disappointing run in the 15th edition as they ended up on the 9th spot with just 4 wins in 14 matches. This was only the second time when the franchise failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Chennai Super Kings do not have a pool of match winners, still it is one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League. This is made possible because the CSK players list consists of a large number of consistent performers, who are led by one of the best captains Mahendra Singh Dhoni. There are many prominent players to watch out in the CSK 2023 squad, such as:

#1. Mahendra Singh Dhoni

The skipper of the team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the driving forces behind the team. He has led the team to 4 IPL championships with an entry into the playoffs in 11 out of the 13 seasons the team played. This number is still the highest by any franchise. Dhoni is the second-highest run scorer for CSK and therefore, he is expected to bring in his experience to play and make CSK win back the title this year.

#2. Ruturaj Gaikwad

This young man has been a sensation for the yellow franchise. Gaikwad has featured in just 3 IPL seasons thus far and he is already up in the ranks, considered as one of the most dangerous opening batsmen in the competition. He emerged as the leading-run scorer for the franchise in the previous two seasons. Ruturaj even backed the orange cap in the 2021 season with 635 runs under his belt, which shows his potential to score big. This man is undoubtedly one of the most lethal all rounders in the game.
