5 best pictures of tennis players and their families

The best tennis players in the game today have a litany of coaches, physiotherapists and support staff on hand to cater to any need they might have and provide moral support.

But key behind the success of many has been a stable family life, with behind-the-scenes support perhaps most crucial in determining success.

Here we look at some great pictures of players and their families supporting them:

The family resemblances are absolutely undeniable! Robert and Lynette Federer, above, with Wolfram and Isabelle Wawrinka, the parents of Stan Wawrinka, seated below.

Next to Wolfram Wawrinka is Stan’s older brother, Jonathan.

Lynette and Mirka Federer at Wimbledon

Before the 2018 Australian Open, Federer won his last Grand Slam at Wimbledon – his favourite stomping grounds – in 2012, with mother Lynette and wife Mirka both on hand to celebrate, as they have been at every one of his big matches.

His wife, former tennis professional Mirka Federer (nee Vavrinec) and mother, Lynette, are not only on Federer’s management team but also take care of Federer and Mirka’s two sets of twins.

Federer shared this lovely picture at Wimbledon of his mother and wife with children Myla Rose and Charlene Riva, their older twins, celebrating his big victory at SW19.

Lleyton Hewitt and family

That Lleyton Hewitt is close to his family is well-known; he shares three children with actor wife Bec – daughters Mia and Ava, and son Cruz. The four were a constant presence on the sidelines until Hewitt’s retirement.

Here he is pictured with eldest daughter Mia in red, Ava with the trophy, and Cruz.

Former World No. 1 Rafael Nadal has made no secret of the fact that he is a football fan. The 14-time Major winner is a die-hard fan of top Spanish club Real Madrid and has expressed a desire to be the club’s President in the future.

He attends a number of their games regularly when his own schedule permits.

Novak Djokovic and his brothers, Djordje and Marko

Well-known as a family man, Novak Djokovic, who grew up the oldest of three brothers in war-torn Serbia, is famously close to his two younger siblings, 25-year-old Marko and 22-year-old Djordje.

Both brothers are also professional tennis players, although not with their eldest brother’s level of success – a level that it seems unlikely most players may reach in their careers.

Both Marko and Djordje, who was all of 13, were on hand to celebrate Novak’s first ever Grand Slam win at the age of only 21 – at the Australian Open in 2008, with the third seeded Djokovic defeating Roger Federer in the semi-finals – and beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for the trophy.

Although the brothers are not so frequently spotted in the stands these days, they remain very close.
