Australian Open 2019: Naomi Osaka vs Karolina Pliskova Semifinal: Where to watch & live stream details

For Karolina Pliskova, Day 10 of the Australian Open 2019 will remain as one of the most memorable days of her career. Down 1-5 and facing a match point against none other than the mighty Serena Williams, she got a second chance as Serena appeared to roll her ankle.

That fired up the Czech who kept painting the lines to win the next six games on her way to her maiden semi-final at the Melbourne Park.

The World No. 7 has started the season in scintillating fashion, winning a title in Brisbane. She has refused to falter since then and has fought her way through to the semi-finals at the Australian Open. She has been tested but each time she has managed to summon that gigantic serve and those effortless forehands to wriggle her way out of three three-setters en route to the last-four.

Up next is the fourth seed and reigning US Open champion Naomi Osaka. The Czech does have a slender 2-1 edge over the Japanese and happened to beat the youngster in straight sets in their last showdown at the WTA Tokyo final.

Whilst that should boost her confidence ahead of this semi-final clash, it is to be noted that the fast-improving Osaka is growing into one of the steadiest and most consistent WTA players around. She has learnt to be calm under pressure and has been rewarded so far.

Even when the 21-year-old was put to a stern test, like in the three-setters she played in the third and the fourth rounds, she was able to hold her nerves and pull through. Her maturity and a penchant to scale the heights have allowed her to be where she is. And now, even the World No. 1 ranking is in sight for the Japanese.

Clearly, she won't be letting the lanky Pliskova to settle into a nice rhythm. Osaka's movement on the court is much better than that of Pliskova and the Japanese could be looking to exploit that to try and get into her first Australian Open final.
