The Laver Cup tennis tournament takes place on indoor hard courts. Rod Laver, an Australian tennis legend, who completed the Grand Slam twice, in 1962 and 1969, inspired the name.
During the three-day event, six of Europe's finest men's tennis players will go against six of the rest of the world's best, turning competitors into teammates.
The Laver Cup follows a team-based concept (Team Europe and Team World), similar to the Ryder Cup in golf, which inspired its creation in 2017 by Roger Federer, Jorge Paulo Lemann, and Tennis Australia.
Each member of the winning team earns $250,000 in prize money as well as guaranteed participation fees based on the players' ATP rankings. However, the tournament does not count the participants' ATP Tour point totals for that year.
The Laver Cup tournament matches are different from regular 3-set matches played on the ATP Tour in that when a match is tied after two sets, a 10-point "match tiebreak" is played instead of the deciding final set.
This 10-point "match tiebreak" is designed to ensure that all matches are completed within a respectable amount of time, which is around 2 hours, while allowing 4 matches to be completed during a match day, which begins at 1 p.m. local time for Days 1 and 2 or at noon local time for the final day.
The 2023 Laver Cup Results
The 2023 Laver Cup will take place at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. It will commence on September 22 and conclude on September 24. Since the international tournament has not started yet, the results will be updated as soon as possible.

Simply put, Team Europe has won the Laver Cup four times, in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021, compared to Team World's single victory in 2022.
2017
At the inaugural Laver Cup in Prague, Team Europe was led to a 15-9 triumph by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. On Day Two of the competition, Federer and Nadal each won their singles matches.
In doubles, the pair easily triumphed over Sam Querrey and Jack Sock 6-4, 1-6, 10-5 in the capital of the Czech Republic. Team Europe had a commanding 9-3 lead going into the last day of the Laver Cup.
2018
Alexander Zverev collected five points for Team Europe at the 2018 Laver Cup in Chicago, a feat only surpassed by Roger Federer. The German finished the competition with a 2-0 singles record after defeating Kevin Anderson to win the tournament on the last day.
As Zverev faced Anderson, Team Europe had a 10-8 advantage over Team World. To his team's success, Zverev was essential.
2019
For the first time in the history of the competition, a winner-take-all match was necessary in the 2019 Laver Cup in Geneva. Two singles matches remained after the first two matches, with Team World holding an 11-7 advantage. Federer defeated John Isner in straight sets, forcing Zverev and Raonic to compete in a key singles match.
For the second consecutive year, Zverev made a strong comeback for Team Europe while handling pressure well. The tournament winner was selected by a match tie-break. Federer and Nadal pushed Zverev, who won the match and the tournament with a cross-court passing stroke.
2020
The Laver Cup was not held in 2020 due to COVID-19.
2021
Team Europe's Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev won the 2021 Laver Cup by defeating Team World's Reilly Opelka and Denis Shapovalov 6-2, 6-7(4), 10-3. To win the title, Team World needed to win all four games, which was a difficult task.
The second set was lost despite Opelka and Shapovalov's efforts. In five of the six match tie-breaks, Rublev and Zverev prevailed by taking advantage of Shapovalov's unforced errors.
2022
The 2022 Laver Cup was won by Team World through the efforts of Frances Tiafoe, who defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas of Team Europe 1-6, 7-6, 10-8 to help his team win 13-8.
Coming into the final day of the competition in London, John McEnroe's team was 4-8 behind four-time champions Team Europe. Astonishingly, Team World turned the tables on the third day, winning the Laver Cup for the first time, with each victory worth three points.
