Tennis: Vishnu wins easy, Rampuria upsets ATP player Dahiya

Kolkata, Nov 7 (IANS) Top seed Vishnu Vardhan and former Davis Cupper V.M. Ranjeet entered the quarter-finals, while Rohit Rampuria upset Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) ranked player Jatin Dahiya to enter the last-eight stage of the Central Excise Asian Tennis Tour which started here on Monday.

While Vishnu won 6-2, 6-1 against Alok Goel, Ranjeet made short work of Abhinanshu Borthakur by winning 6-2, 6-2. Local player Ishaque Eqbal got the better of Sanil Jagtiani in straight sets while Rampuria also advanced with a shocking win.

Among all the ties of the day, Rampuria's match was notable as the underdog won the first set 6-4 but lost steam in the second set without winning a single game. In the third set Jatin broke Rampuria's serve and was 4-3 up but the latter came back strong to break consecutively winning the set 6-4.
