Rae started actively creating and posting content on TikTok, where her captivating dance moves helped her garner a lot of attention. She currently holds the title of having the fourth most-followed account on TikTok.

Addison was born on October 6, 2000, in Lafayette, Louisiana to her parents Monty Lopez and Sheri Easterling as reported by the Wall Street Journal. She was raised in Lafayette alongside her younger brothers, Enzo Lopez and Lucas Lopez.

Seventeen reports Addison's parents divorced during her childhood but were an off-and-on couple till they remarried again in 2017. Apart from her successful TikTok career, Sheri Easterling is also an engineer and photographer.

Rae’s success on TikTok as a dancer was not a fluke. Ever since she was young, she was always interested in co-curricular activities as compared to studies, and found a passion for dance when she was six years old, this was around the time she first started dancing competitively and actively attended dance competitions across the country as reported by the Wall Street Journal. Apart from her passion for dancing, Rae used to be a gymnast and a cheerleader during her High School days.

Rae finished her schooling at the Calvary Baptist Academy situated in Shreveport, Louisiana after which she decided to pursue sports broadcasting and enrolled in Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. Distractify reports it was at this time Rae first became active on TikTok and used it for fun.

Soon Rae started noticing how popular her TikTok account and dances were becoming, she was contacted by a few executives out in Los Angeles who invited her to visit the city and try a career in social media as she confessed in an interview with Elle. Rae soon realized the opportunity that was being presented to her and dropped out of LSU and shifted to Los Angeles after her parents supported her decision to do the same.

Her virality and success on the popular video-sharing app, allowed her to become one of the most prominent members of the LA-based collective known as “The Hype House”, which she joined in late 2019 alongside other TikTok A-listers, Avani Gregg, Chase Hudson (Lil Huddy), and the D’Amelio sisters.

Forbes named Rae the highest-earning TikTok personality in August 2020 which was mostly due to her newfound success on TikTok as well as the different brands such as American Eagle, Reebok, Hollister, and L’Oreal who contracted her to feature in their advertisements.

Building on an already successful 2020, 2021 saw Rae feature on Forbes “30-Under-30” list under their social media influencer category. The accolades did not stop there however, Rae also received a Streamy Award, and was nominated for two People’s Choice Awards and three Kid’s Choice Awards.

Addison is all set to make her acting debut when she plays the role of Padgett Sawyer, in the gender-swap remake of the popular 1999 teen comedy, She’s All That. Rae also officially released her debut single, "Obsessed" the same year.

Career as TikTok star

Addison Rae first joined TikTok in July of 2019 and started uploading her dance videos to trending songs for fun while she was still a freshman at Louisiana State University. She currently has over 87 million followers on Tik Tok. Rae never expected her TikTok dances to make her into an overnight sensation, and gained over a million followers within a couple of months. Business Insider reports, that following the increase in her popularity on TikTok, Rae decided to pursue social media more seriously and eventually started her own YouTube Channel and became active on Instagram. Subsequently, she dropped out of LSU and decided to move to Los Angeles.

She immediately became a sensation and was hence invited to be a part of the Hype House, a TikTok collaborative group based in Los Angeles, as a foundational member in December 2019.

Business Insider reports Addison alongside her father and mother signed with WME, a talent in January 2020.

After establishing herself as one of the most influential TikTokers out there, Rae earned a chance to star in advertisements for popular brands like Reebok, L'Oréal, Hollister, and American Eagle. Her most notable collaboration was with American Eagle, wherein she became the face of their #AExME Back to School '20 ads that were shot exclusively in Addison’s bedroom due to the ongoing pandemic, making it the first virtual shoot American Eagle ever did.

Forbes reported in August 2020 that Rae earned $5 million in 2019-2020 from her various endorsement deals and merchandise, which made her the highest-earning TikTok star. Later that month, Addison and her mother, Sheri, collaborated to release a weekly podcast that was exclusive to Spotify, called "Mama Knows Best" wherein they would cover topics like their personal and career life as reported by People. This podcast was eventually rebranded as "That was Fun? With Addison and Sheri," in 2021.

2021 saw this social media juggernaut launch her own cosmetics line called Item Beauty in collaboration with Madeby Collective, where Addison holds the post of Chief Innovation Officer where she oversees most of the products in the brand as reported by Business Insider.

Later that year, Rae made her acting debut by starring in, He's All That, the gender-swapped remake of She’s All that, a 1999 teen comedy. Though the film was the most-streamed film of the week when it was released on Netflix in August 2021, it received mostly negative reviews from critics. Impressed by Addison’s acting skills and abilities, Netflix subsequently signed a deal with Rae.

Earlier this year, Rae announced via Instagram she is going to feature in a new movie called Fashionista, produced by Paramount, which is currently in its production stage.
