In November of 2019, he began uploading videos on TikTok. Olly and Mama Lulu started their TikTok journey when Olly posted a video laughing at his mom’s phone screensaver of a K-drama character. Since then, it has been nothing but pure, wholesome content from them. Their most famous recurring skit is “Name that Celebrity”. The series was so popular that they eventually made a YouTube compilation.
In these videos, Mama Lulu attempts at naming celebrities such as Dua Lipa or, as she calls her, Lipa Dupa. Mama Lulu holds nothing back, often roasting her son Olly and insulting her haters in Tagalog. Their famous tagline “EEDJIOT CHAIN” has now spread across the internet, and is one of the many names that Mama Lulu likes to call her son.
He is multi-talented and has a wide range of interests. On his account, he has uploaded Green Screen films of many celebrities, including David Dobrik and Charli D’Amelio. He has gained massive popularity on social media and has been followed by a massive number of fans.
There are several video compilations of Olly’s mom Lulu being quizzed by her son about different celebrities, from K-Pop stars, Hollywood actors, TikTok celebs, rappers, and even some Pinoy actors. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Olly revealed, “I never really knew about TikTok until November of last year when a date urged me to download it. At first, I uploaded videos of me bothering [my mom], being an annoying child, but eventually, I showed her how much people loved our videos and it evolved from there. I knew I wanted to show my Mom how I see her and our relationship. It turned out to be funny, relatable, and wholesome content,”. On his and his mom’s internet fame, Olly says that his mom is aware of it, but nothing’s really changed, and that they’re just making videos that will make people laugh.
The first TikTok video you’ll find of Olly and his mom is actually a 2018 video of Mama Lulu ogling at her Lee Min Ho wallpaper. Olly mentioned, “I uploaded that as a joke just before Thanksgiving last year. But the first real TikTok I did with her was when I was bothering as a joke and she threw a slipper at me,”.
Even though they goof around in the videos, Mama Lulu actually knows a lot about celebrities and pop culture, more than anyone her age. According to Olly, who’s a self-confessed pop culture and TV and movie buff, he loves teaching his mom about these things, as a way for them to bond. Olly shares, “I also learn about her Filipino celebrity favorites and Filipino cooking, and I teach her about American and K-Pop culture. It’s a give and takes. We love to bond over movies and binge-watch Asian dramas,”
