Bangalore, August 22, 2016: USHA International, one of India’s leading consumer durables company, is the first company to promote Ultimate in India. Taking forward this strong commitment, Usha announced the ‘USHA Bangalore Ultimate Open 2016’ in association with UPAI (Ultimate Players Association of India) starting August 19, 2016. This is the fourth year in a row that the company has been supporting this tournament.

Team Learning To Fly from Bangalore emerged victorious and lifted the USHA Bangalore Ultimate Open 2016 Trophy. They beat Team Spinergy from Auroville in the Gold pool finals. Team Airborne Chicken Pox from Chennai finished third in the Gold pool.

Usha Bangalore Ultimate Open was a three-day tournament slated between August 19 & 21, 2016 and took place at Mysore University Ground, Mysore. A total of 34 teams from 11 cities participated in the tournament.

Speaking about the event, Ms. Komal Mehra, Events Head, Usha International said, “USHA’s collaboration with Ultimate in India is a part of our larger effort in promoting sports, health and active lifestyle among people because at Usha ‘we care’. It blends perfectly with the USHA brand ethos ‘Play’. With Usha’s continued support for four years, the tournaments have seen increased participation and Ultimate has established itself as a global sport, with the International Olympic Association recognising it. We aim to reach the crux of this sport by organizing rural sports out-reach initiatives across India.”

Ultimate has been gaining huge popularity in India. Recently, India sent 4 teams to compete at the World’s Ultimate and Guts Championship (WUGC) 2016 in different categories – Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Mixed and Masters. Usha has always been supportive of numerous sporting initiatives in the country like Marathon, Cricket, Ladies and Junior Golf, Football etc.
