Paul Bissonnette sounded concerned as the Maple Leafs prepare to take on the Boston Bruins at home on Tuesday night following back-to-back road losses.
The Leafs were coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, where defenseman Jared Spurgeon recorded two assists, including the primary one on Matt Boldy's game-winning goal. Bissonnette took to X to praise Spurgeon's performance and lament the Leafs' defeat.
"Damn. Forgot about the guys behind em. What a play by Spurgeon. Boldy with the finish. What a start for the Wild. Kirill in the Hart conversation, and it’s all systems go in Minny. Tough roadie for the Leafs, and it doesn’t get any easier with B’s in Leafs Land Tuesday. #Leafsforever"
The defeat in Minnesota followed a 4–3 loss to the St. Louis Blues on the road, which puts their record at 6-5-2 on the season. Next, they face a tough test against Atlantic Division rivals Boston Bruins.
Bissonnette also highlighted the stellar play of Minnesota winger Kirill Kaprizov, who has seven goals and 14 assists through 11 games. Kaprizov's hot start has him in the early Hart Trophy discussion.
William Nylander scored for the Maple Leafs, while Goaltender Anthony Stolarz stopped 27 shots.
