Oliver Ekman-Larsson is a Swedish ice hockey defenseman who currently plays for the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League (NHL). Notably, Ekman was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.


Born on July 17, 1991, Ekman's hockey journey began with Tingsryds AIF of the HockeyAllsvenskan during the 2007-08 season. He later joined the Leksands IF where he continued his development until he was picked by the Coyotes. Transitioning to the NHL in 2010-11, Ekman made history as the first Swedish-born defenseman to score over 20 goals in a single NHL season and was also named to the NHL All-Star Game (2015 and 2018).


Furthermore, he holds the record for the most game-winning goals by a defenseman in a single NHL season and also holds the records for the most powerplay goals (41) and the most goals overall (128) by a defenseman.
