Understandably, even reporters want to interact with the WNBA's Caitlin Clark after she was drafted first overall by the Indiana Fever. However, there are a few instances where a media member can go overboard with their jokes. During Clark's introductory press, a reporter tried to have a playful banter with the Indiana Fever guard, but it didn't look good.
Media members got a chance to ask their questions to the league's top pick, and Clark was respectful when answering the questions. However, one reporter stood out for having an 'inappropriate' interaction with the prospect.
Before the reporter asked his question, he did Clark's famous heart gesture that she does for her family. The rookie asked the reporter if he liked the heart gesture, to which he replied that he liked that the top pick was in Indiana. She explained that she makes the gesture to her family after every game.
The reporter's reply wasn't something anyone expected.
"Start doing it to me and we'll get along just fine," the reporter said.
Clark was left speechless and fans addressed how 'inappropriate' the reporter was.
"Gross behavior. Hope his creds are yanked," @RealMatSmith said on X.
"This is BEYOND inappropriate," @AnnieCostabile didn't hold back in her observation.
"Should be fired!" @christhecool21 believes the reporter should be fired.
Some fans weren't happy with it but still had a few laughs about the incident.
"If 'where’s my hug at' was a basketball reporter," @NBATradeFinder shared his thoughts on the matter.
"Bro needs to work on his game," @2MINIHULK thinks the reporter needs to work on asking better questions.
"Good way to get fired," @jacobtrietsch thinks the reporter is on his way to getting fired.
Aside from Clark's interaction with that one reporter, her introductory press went smoothly.
Caitlin Clark's Indiana jersey gets sold out
The 2024 WNBA season hasn' started, but Caitlin Clark has already made a massive impact on the league. Shortly after getting drafted by Indiana, the top prospect was introduced to the public in her team gear, and fans quickly bought Clark's jersey, which sold out pretty quickly.
Aside from her popularity that helped break the WNBA record for the most-viewed draft of all time, with 2.45 million viewers, Clark set another record. Indiana's rookie is now the top-selling jersey for a draft pick in the league's history.
'The Clark Effect' is real and has slowly taken over the professional league. The most interesting part of it is that she hasn't played a single game yet.
