Undertaker's 5 toughest WrestleMania matches

WWE Smackdown Wrestling

5. The Undertaker vs Edge – WrestleMania XXIV

Undertaker challenged Edge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXIV. Before this match, he was 15-0 at WrestleMania. During the course of the match there was interference from La Familia, although Taker was able to fight them off but suddenly came a series of spears from Edge which certainly left the crowd in doubt of whether Taker will win or not. But in the end, Taker reigned supreme and became the World Champion, thus extending his streak to 16-0 at WrestleMania.

4. The Undertaker vs Kane – WrestleMania XIV

With Kane making his debut during the first ever Hell in a Cell match between Taker & HBK, thus costing Taker the match, the tension between them started to rise. This rivalry entered a new level, when Kane attacked him during the Casket match at Royal Rumble 1998 for the WWF Championship against HBK and cost him the match again and set the casket on fire in which Taker was locked inside. However Taker made a return two months later, a few weeks before WrestleMania to challenge his brother to a match. The two faced off at Mania in a great match. Taker gave all he had, but it wasn’t enough to put Kane down as he kept getting up. Finally, it took three Tombstone Piledrivers for Taker to put Kane down and extend his streak to 7-0.

3. The Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez – WrestleMania IX

This was a match of two big men. Not a great match, but Taker was at times man-handled. The end came when Gonzalez used chloroform on Taker and was disqualified. Not a satisfactory victory for Taker. This was the Deadman’s third victory at WrestleMania.

2. The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels – WrestleMania XXV

This was the best WrestleMania match of all-time in my view. A lot of near-falls, counters, and finishing moves. HBK was just seconds away from defeating Taker, but he made just one mistake that cost him the match. A hard fought victory for The Undertaker. He went 17-0.

1. The Undertaker vs Triple H – WrestleMania XXVII

WrestleMania XXVII

This was a ‘No Holds Barred’ match. This was also probably the toughest match Taker has had at WrestleMania. With a lot of brutality, chair shots to the skull, Triple H hit the tombstone piledriver on The Undertaker. The crowd was shocked. They all thought the Streak was over, but Taker kicked out. Triple H took out the sledgehammer from beneath the ring and was about to hit Taker with it, but Taker locked him in the Hells Gate Submission hold and The Game finally tapped out. Triple H being the loser left on his feet but when Taker tried to walk, he fell down. He was carried out on a Stretcher. Even The Undertaker knew that he barely won the match, and that’s why he challenged The Game next year again at WrestleMania.
