10 amazing backstage WWE photos - Part 2

As we have already explored in Part 1 of our “10 amazing backstage WWE photos” series, backstage photos are an insight into how the pro-wrestling industry works and can offer fans a glimpse of sides of wrestlers they would never get to see on-screen or in the ring.

Today, we pick up right where we left off, as we look at 10 more backstage photographs that really tell a different tale to what you see in front of cameras:

#10) The Rock and Shaquille O’Neill

We start off with a picture from way back in the attitude era when The Rock was at his heelish best. As part of the Corporation, this was The Rock’s ascension into pro-wrestling superstardom. Shaquille O’Neill, on the other hand, was busy building one of the most dominant forces in the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant.

It’s great to see these two legends before they became the global superstars they are today.

#2) Charlotte Flair and Ric Flair

Ric Flair, of course, needs no introduction. The 16-time World Champion is widely regarded as one of the greatest superstars to ever step foot into the squared circle. His daughter, Charlotte, has been on the path to greatness herself – in the WWE’ s Women’ s Division.

It’ s an absolute treat to see the two together backstage, sharing a smile. It’ s easy to see just how proud the elder Flair is of his daughter. A heartwarming picture.

#3) The Bella Twins

This is a hilarious one. The Bella Twins are the WWE’s leading women. Nikki Bella is the long-term girlfriend of The Face that Runs the Place, John Cena, while Brie Bella is the beau of everyone’s favourite underdog, Daniel Bryan.

Despite their elite status, the twins show that they are always up for some fun, goofing off backstage at a WWE event.

#4) Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar, and Triple H

This is a real insight into the inner workings of the WWE.

Everyone knows about Brock Lesnar’s status as the highest-paid part-timer in the WWE and Heyman’s fate is directly tied to Lesnar’s. It’s easy to see why the pair is so happy with Triple H here.

This was taken backstage right after Lesnar captured the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships to usher in an era of dominance for the Beast Incarnate. Best for Business, indeed.

#5) The Shield

This is one of the more commonly seen pictures in the WWE but that doesn’t make it any less effective. During their days as the most dominant faction in the WWE, The Shield were a force to be feared and this picture just added to that fear factor.

Seeing Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins decked out in their Shield gear and masks looking menacing as all hell is one of the most enduring images from their era of dominance.

#6) Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella

The first of two Daniel Bryan images to make this list. This one shows Bryan and current wife, Brie Bella.

Then his fiance, it’s easy to see the passion and love between the two as Bella celebrates with Bryan following his World Heavyweight Championship match. The two are now married and expecting their first child together but this is a beautiful insight into the early part of their relationship.

#7) Diamond Dallas Page and Jake “The Snake” Roberts

There is something absolutely wonderful about seeing Jake “The Snake” Roberts smiling again. And, the man we have to thank for that is standing right next to him in this picture.

Diamond Dallas Pages’ patented DDP Yoga is the only reason Roberts is still alive today. After going through a terrible battle with addiction and depression, Roberts was on death’s doorstep when DDP took him in and saved the WWE legend’s life.

A long road to recovery it might have been, but it so good to see them so happy in this picture.

#8) The Rock and his father, Rocky Johnson

Years before The Rock captured our hearts as a wrestling superstar, his father, Rocky Johnson, was tearing it up in days of territory wrestling as well as the WWF. In fact, he was part of the first black tag-team to win WWF tag-team gold.

In 2008, Rocky Johnson was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and it’s clear from the above picture just how much it means to both him and the Rock. It is absolutely fantastic to see two generations of the Johnson family in the Hall of Fame.

#9) Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon

For the penultimate image on this list, we come to members of The Kliq. Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon were two of the WWE’s biggest stars in the early-mid 90’s. The two, along with Triple H, Kevin Nash, and X-Pac formed a group that extended its backstage influence through a close relationship with the Chairman, Vince McMahon.

This close relationship stemmed from the fact that The Kliq were willing to push the envelope when it came to WWE Creative and soon became Vince’s favourites. This picture of Michaels and Ramon is a real throwback to the golden days of wrestling.

#10) Daniel Bryan

We’re round this off with an epic picture of Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania.

This picture was taken just as Daniel Bryan prepared to walk out in front of thousands for his soon to be legendary World Title triumph against Batista and Randy Orton. A goosebump-inducing picture when you realise exactly what was gonna happen next.
