Best and Worst of RAW- 30th July, 2018

This week's episode of RAW raised more questions than answers
This week's episode of RAW raised more questions than answers

There were parts of RAW that left me quite underwhelmed. However, the central storyline that ran across the whole show wasn't really all that bad. And the fact that I'm intrigued after the show is done and dusted must be a good thing. So, how did the episode from Miami pan out?

I really thought the good parts were really good and the bad bits were yawn-worthy. There was a bit of both running through the episode, across the three hours. What I did like is how the show started strong and how it ended strong.

SummerSlam is only a few weeks in the future. How excited are you about the second biggest show of the entire year?

Here is an analysis of the 'Best' and 'Worst' from this week.

#1 Best: Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre

Two of the best in the business left it all in the ring
Two of the best in the business left it all in the ring

Rollins and McIntyre went at it from the word go, this week. Both men put on a match to remember right ahead of the big Intercontinental Championship match at SummerSlam. McIntyre may not be in the card, but he's certainly being seen as a top guy by WWE management. Ziggler prevented him from taking a pin this week.

I also liked the attack from Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre upon Seth Rollins when they laid him out in the backstage area. Somehow, this feud just feels a lot more real and worthy of the audience's interest than almost anything else on RAW currently. It does help that all three men involved are world class workers.

When Ziggler and Rollins get into the ring at SummerSlam, I'm sure both men will burn it down and put on a show for fans to remember. Let's just hope that fans don't hijack the match.

#1 Worst: Fans hijack RAW match

The Revival's return was met with CM Punk chants
The Revival's return was met with CM Punk chants

I was thrilled to see The Revival enter the title picture on this week's show. They were my favourite act in NXT and they defeated The Deleters of Worlds in a fun little contest. Evidently, the crowd wasn't all that amused by the match. They interrupted the proceedings with 'CM Punk' and 'Rusev Day' chants.

By remembering a superstar who's no longer in the company and does not care for wrestling, all the audience is doing is preventing new talent from shining. I really wish they would stop with the chants. It's mean and disrespectful.

#2 Best: New feud for Elias

Elias is too talented to be left on the sidelines
Elias is too talented to be left on the sidelines

Elias has been present on RAW almost every week, getting some massive reactions indeed. Unfortunately, he's not been booked in feuds per se. Either Elias has been singing songs making fun of the city he's in or has been making pointless cameos backstage.

I'm glad to see that he finally has a feud that he can sink his teeth into and revel in. Lashley has been booked as a dominant superstar and this is a massive step up for Elias, in my opinion. Even if he loses the match, it's still a pretty big achievement indeed.

Both men can elevate one another through this feud. Let's just hope that we never have to hear Lashley sing again.

#2 Worst: Roode vs. Mojo Rawley

Somehow, I'm not excited about this feud at all
Somehow, I'm not excited about this feud at all

Bobby Roode came in with a lot of oomph and excitement, complete with a catchy theme song and everything else. Some puzzling booking decisions have converted him into a bland, unexciting babyface. Remember how good he was as a heel in NXT, not long ago?

Let's hope that next week's match is the end of the feud between Roode and Mojo Rawley. Especially for Roode, I hope he goes on to win this match and move on to bigger and better things!

#3 Best: Brock Lesnar turns on Paul Heyman

This was certainly a really unexpected turn of events
This was certainly a really unexpected turn of events

I liked the fact that there was a theme running across this week's show. I liked how Brock Lesnar was portrayed as an unhinged monster, angry with almost everyone around him. I loved how Lesnar attacked an authority figure without remorse at the end of the show, and then turned on his own advocate. This lays the groundwork for a Paul Heyman betrayal.

Yes, I also did like how Roman Reigns was written off the show and did not get involved in the finale as well. I wonder if there will be consequences for the stiff punch he delivered to Corbin.

#3 Worst: Banks and Bayley are friends once more?

What was the point of the therapy session segments then?
What was the point of the therapy session segments then?

Sasha Banks and Bayley worked fantastically on this week's show. They defeated the Riott Squad with utmost ease. But quite honestly, I did not see the point of this. I think there's more money to be made if the women actually worked against each other.

Some amount of consistency would be a good reward for fans that tune in to watch every week. Look at the amount of detail in a Game of Thrones or Westworld, and compare them to the lack of detail on RAW, week after week.

#4 Best/worst: Ronda Rousey wrestling on RAW

Is the match enhancing or diminishing Rousey's allure?
Is the big match enhancing or diminishing Rousey's allure?

Ronda Rousey is clearly more invested in a WWE career than Brock Lesnar is. I'm just in two minds about her wrestling on RAW next week. Do you guys think it's a good idea for her to wrestle on RAW? Or should she be kept as a special attraction to be showcased only at special events?

Whatever the case may be, I was glad to see Rousey return. Rousey vs. Bliss seems like a big match, and with Evolution on the horizon, I imagine we could see Rousey with the title soon. She certainly gets a massive reception every single week.

Does Alexa Bliss stand a chance? Never count a Goddess out, WWE Universe.
