#10 Sheamus powerbombs Sin Cara through the ladder - SmackDown Money in the Bank 2011

Painful would be an understatement
Painful would be an understatement

The 2011 Money in the Bank pay-per-view is remembered largely for the match between CM Punk and John Cena, but both ladder matches were a lot of fun as well.

One of the most epic spots of the night came from the SmackDown ladder match where Sheamus looked like he snapped Sin Cara and the ladder in two.

While both men were on the apron, Sheamus picked up Sin Cara for a powerbomb and drove him straight through a ladder set up between the apron and announcement table.

There have been other powerbomb spots in these matches, but this one definitely had the most impact.

#9 John Morrison Ladder Moonsault - WrestleMania 24

A Point
A Point for Innovation

The WrestleMania 24 Money in the Bank Match didn’t waste any time giving fans all the dives and destruction they wanted and former WWE Superstar John Morrison was a big part of that.

Morrison knocked Chris Jericho to the mat with a ladder and set it up in the corner.

After exiting the ring and ascending the turnbuckle, Morrison hit a Moonsault onto his opponents at ringside with the ladder still in hand.

Moonsaults, topes and other dives have become the standard for Money in the Bank matches but this was the first time in a while that some innovation was introduced..

#8 Tower of Doom off the Ladder – WrestleMania 24

Another great Money in the Bank moment from WrestleMania 24 saw Shelton Benjamin, Morrison and Mr. Kennedy hit a gargantuan Tower of Doom spot from the top of the ladder.

Morrison jumped onto a ladder and jumped to another ladder where Mr. Kennedy was attempting to grab the briefcase. Both men struggled to Suplex each other off the top of the ladder, but neither man budged.

Benjamin would up the ante by climbing another ladder and hitting a Sunset Flip on Mr. Kennedy while he still had Morrison geared up for a Suplex – resulting in all three men crashing down to the canvas.

#7 RKO to Neville off the Ladder – Money in the Bank 2015

RKO Outta Nowhere
RKO Outta Nowhere

One of the greatest things about the Money in the Bank matches are the variations fans get see of popular signature and finishing moves. Randy Orton was especially good at doing this and always found a way to hit a unique RKO.

Some of his standout RKOs were with CM Punk and Rob Van Dam in ladder matches over the years, but his RKO in the 2015 Money in the Bank ladder match was definitely one of the best.

After clearing the ring to make his ascent up the ladder, Neville hit a springboard jump to the ladder and nearly reached the briefcase before Orton grabbed him.

Orton swung his leg back causing Neville to fall and caught him with a sick RKO.

#6 Ambrose-Rollins Superplex off the Ladder – Money in the Bank 2014

A great rivalry
A great rivalry

The 2014 Money in the Bank Match is one of the best matches for the briefcase and that was largely due to the chaos Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins created.

Halfway through the match, Rollins and Rob Van Dam were at the top of the biggest ladder in the ring and RVD attempted to suplex Rollins from the top of the ladder.

Rollins managed to fight RVD off and eventually Jack Swagger brought RVD off the ladder with a massive powerbomb, but Rollins was nowhere near safe.

Moving fast and recklessly up the ladder, Ambrose grabbed Rollins and drove him to the ground with a Superplex from the top of the ladder.

Everything from the height of the ladder to the impact Rollins and Ambrose created when the crashed down to the canvas made this spot much more brutal than any other suplex seen in other ladder matches.

Two Old Rivals, Two Great Ladder Match Perfomers
Two Old Rivals, Two Great Ladder Match Performers

Van Dam made his return to the WWE in the summer of 2013 and participated in the All-Star Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Seeing RVD in a ladder match was a nice call back to all the awesome ladder matches RVD had in the past including the Money in the Bank match from WrestleMania 22.

RVD did a frog splash from the top of the ladder in that match but decided to up the ante years later by doing a bigger frog splash than ever before.

With the tallest ladder set up in the corner, RVD climbed to the top rung, hit his trademark pose and hit Christian with a massive Five Star Frog Splash.

#4 Shelton Benjamin's Running Clothesline off the Ladder - WrestleMania 21

Ain't No Stopping Him
Ain't No Stopping Him

The first Money in the Bank match was a fantastic preview of what fans were to expect in these matches and the performances by Benjamin in particular help set the tone.

The Gold Standard did his fair share of high-flying in the match, but his big spot towards the end was something fans definitely weren't expecting.

With Jericho climbing the ladder to retrieve the briefcase, Benjamin pulled off the ultimate display of speed and agility by running up the ladder leaning towards Jericho and knocking him down to the canvas with an awesome clothesline.

#3 Shelton Benjamin’s Fall From the Ladder – WrestleMania 24

What a Fall
What a Fall

It goes without saying that Benjamin took the phrase “putting your body on the line” to new heights with his Money in the Bank performances and his fall from the ladder was a sight to behold.

As he was closing in on the briefcase, Carlito and Mr. Kennedy pick up the ladder and push it over. Benjamin then loses his balance and crashes through the ladder on the outside.

Benjamin laid limp on the broken ladder while Carlito and Kennedy look down wondering if they just killed the man all make the spot that much more awesome.

Benjamin's athleticism and insane dives made for some of the best spots in most of the early ladder matches, but WrestleMania 25 saw the Gold Standard take one of the biggest dives of his career.

With bodies scattered around ringside near the entrance ramp, Benjamin ascended to the top of biggest ladder and dove headfirst into the wrestlers down below.

The scariest thing about it was the fact that he would've fallen on the top of his head if the wrestlers weren't there to break his fall.

Thankfully, he was fine after taking that gargantuan leap.

#1 Jeff Hardy’s Leg Drop Edge through the Ladder – WrestleMania 23

A Dive Fit for the Grandest Stage of Them All
A Dive Fit for the Grandest Stage of Them All

Two years after WWE provided two great Money in the Bank matches, it was becoming clear that there would always be one epic spot to look forward to.

For WrestleMania 23, it was Jeff Hardy delivering one of the biggest Diving Leg Drops in the history.

After clearing the ring, Hardy had the chance to climb the ladder and retrieve the briefcase, but his brother Matt convinced him to risk it all to take Edge out of the match – as if to get revenge on the Rated R-Superstar for that spear from WrestleMania 17.

With the briefcase a few feet away, Hardy turned to Edge and jumped off the ladder to deliver a huge leg drop that snapped the ladder into pieces.

The spot was so brutal that Edge had to be carted away by the medical team and neither man would have any further involvement in the match.

Leave it to the innovators of the TLC matches to pull off an epic stunt like that.
