#10 Giving Brodus Clay his Wrestlemania moment

John Cena and Brodus Clay never wrestled each other

Picture the scene, it’s Wrestlemania 28 and the biggest main event in WWE history is about to take place. An entire year has gone into promoting this match, surely, you’d expect John Cena to be an egomaniac at this time? Wrong. The show was already over-running and as a result, Brodus Clays’ Wrestlemania moment was cut short to give the main event enough time.

However, as Clay was being given the bad news, Cena popped up and sheepishly said ‘I still need to go toilet’ with a wink. That gave Brodus Clay the five minutes he needed to have the greatest moment of his life.

#9 Allegations of bullying

It’s no secret that top guys usually have a greater say backstage than the average superstar. John Cena is no different and it’d be strange not to hear rumblings about his abuse of power after 13 years at the top. Over the years many superstars came out and said their time in the WWE was less enjoyable because of John Cena.

Colt Cabana, Michael Tarver & Tyler Reks have all stated that John Cena gave them a rough time for seemingly no reason. Stories of Cena giving rookies death stares, deliberately injuring them and publicly embarrassing them have made the rounds

#8 Rapping in front of WWE officials

Sometimes to become the franchise player, you have to be courageous in your decisions. Back in the UK, John Cena took that leap of faith. On the back of the WWE tour bus, Rikishi, Rey Mysterio & Chuck Palumbo were playing hip-hop beats and freestyling.

So, what did the rookie John Cena do? He walked straight up to these WWE legends and started rapping. The Champ claims he freestyled for 10 straight minutes in front of the whole bus, with the creative team eagerly listening. From that day on, the Doctor of Thuganomics was born and Cena’s life changed for the better.

#7 Burying the Nexus

Summerslam 2010 was meant to be the moment where the Nexus became the most formidable faction in WWE history. After running rough shot over everyone, the final exclamation point was meant to be a win at Summerslam over Team WWE. And that was the plan leading up to the day until John Cena convinced Vince McMahon to think otherwise.

Even Edge and Chris Jericho were vying for the Nexus to win, but Super Cena would avail and beat the last two members of Nexus to win. With that, we never really saw the Nexus again and out went the most entertaining storyline of the new era.

#6 His alleged relationship with Mickie James

Rumour has it that John Cena's top guy status in the WWE has stretched way beyond the ring. Back in 2007, the Cenation leader was alleged to have had relations with former Divas Champion, Mickie James. It's said that the two embarked on a fling backstage, much to the displeasure of others.

Such was the impact of the romance that it even involved Mickie's former boyfriend Kenny Dykstra losing his job. All of this is speculation and neither of the two has come out to confirm or deny the reports. Instead, they've distanced themselves from each other both outside and inside of the ring.

#5 Fighting with Carlito

It’s funny how a lot of these stories seem to involve the influence of alcohol. In an out of the arena incident, John Cena and Carlito got into an actual physical fight. What was the source of the fight? John Cena wanted Carlito to be a ‘higher level’ talent.

Cena felt Carlito wasn’t applying himself enough and thus, not being at the level he should be. The argument got so heated that the duo had to be separated three times. The incident only further shows how passionate Cena truly is about the WWE.

#4 Putting Chris Jericho to sleep

John Cena busts his ass off in the ring, but outside of it, he parties like a college student. If we go back to their WWE Network live special, Chris Jericho and John Cena made some comical revelations about their relationship.

Y2J retold the story of how he & Cena went out partying one night, with the aim of seeing who could drink the most. Not only did John outlast Chris, Jericho woke up in a hotel bed with his duvet firmly tucked underneath him. While Cena was still in the corner drinking and coincidently listening to Jericho’s iPod.

#3 Off duty marriage counselling

It seems as though Chris Jericho knows John Cena better than he knows himself. According to Chris Jericho, when the WWE toured Alaska in the mid-000s, Cena & Jericho went out drinking in a bar.

The night soon took an unexpected turn when Cena spent most of the night counselling a married couple on the verge of divorce. By the end of the night, Cena convinced the couple to call off their impending divorce, ultimately saving their relationship.

#2 Excretion during a match

In a shocking revelation on Total Divas, John Cena admitted he pooed himself in a WWE ring. This sounds absurd, but when you think about the sheer amount of matches he’s had in the WWE, it’s inevitable one of them was going end in a mess.

The 16-time champ stated on that day that he was suffering from food poisoning and despite not feeling well, he still went on with the match at a live event. The result was an embarrassing tail John Cena can tell forever.

#1 Relations with fans

For those who don’t know, Howard Stern is the man in the celebrity world that always get the juice out of famous people. When John Cena went on the Howard Stern show back in 2007, he knew he’d be asked a whole load of personal questions. Despite being Vince's golden boy, Cena didn’t shy away from the sex-related questions and went into detail about his sexual experiences.

He even shared an experience where he had sex with a 280-pound woman because the roster challenged him to do so. If that weren’t enough, Cena even told Stern that he had slept with six of his fans in one night. What a contrast this is to the clean-cut Cena we see on a weekly basis.
