Today, the likes of Charlotte Flair, Paige, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, and Nia Jax, are all very much seen as professional wrestlers who were born to lead the WWE's Women's Revolution. They are amongst the very best female wrestlers in the world and are creating waves with their impressive performances over the past year and a half.

But, not everyone one of these women started off their professional lives in the WWE or even the wrestling business. There are a number of women who were in completely unrelated fields of work before their true calling of becoming sports entertainers came to the fore.

We already know on the men's side of things about how John Cena was a professional body builder before turning to professional wrestling and how Roman Reigns played American Football in the Canadian Football League before his WWE Developmental Contract. Now, it's time to see what women were up to before they joined Vince McMahon's mad house.

So, without any further ado, here are 10 things WWE women superstars did before joining the company:

#10 Lana - Singer, dancer, and actress

Lana used to be a singer

Lana was originally a singer having been a part of the girl band "No Means Yes" and they even managed to land a record deal for themselves. After things didn't work out, she worked as a backup dancer on music videos.

This eventually earned her a small part in the hit movie Pitch Perfect before she joined up with the WWE full time to become an integral part of future husband, Rusev's gimmick. She also reprised her role for Pitch Perfect 2.

#9 Maria Kanellis — Took part in beauty pageants

If you take a look at Maria Kanellis, there is little doubt that she was hired mainly for her looks and ability to work a crowd on the microphone. Her in-ring work is minimal and a large part of her role involves being the manager for her husband, Mike Kanellis.

It only makes sense then that her original profession before getting into professional wrestling was taking part in beauty pageants. There is little doubt as to how good looking she is.

#8 Carmella — Cheerleader

Everything about the way Carmella looks screams cheerleader so it's hardly surprising that she was one for years before joining the WWE. The Princess from Staten Island was originally a cheerleader for NFL team the New England Patriots before departing for the NBA.

She auditioned for the role of a Laker Girl with the Los Angeles Lakers and was successful in her quest to become one.

#7 Naomi — Cheerleader and dancer

Naomi made her WWE debut as a member of Brodus Clay's dance troupe. Well, there's an actual reason for that. Naomi was a professional cheerleader and dancer before joining the WWE.

She was a cheerleader for the NBA's Orlando Magic and worked as a backup dancer for world famous rapper Flo Rida. Nowadays, she still busts out moves in addition to her kick-ass wrestling skills during her entrances and celebrations.

#6 Nia Jax — Model

If you look at Nia Jax when she's in character, she comes across as a fearsome competitor who would like nothing more than to take her opponents apart. But, outside the ring, she's an absolute sweetheart which corresponds with her work prior to joining the WWE.

The Rock's cousin worked as a plus sized model before making the jump over to professional wrestling.

#5 Bella Twins — Waitresses

The Bella Twins might be two of the biggest female names in the WWE today but that wasn't always the case. Before getting their own reality TV Show and getting into relationships with John Cena and Daniel Bryan, Nikki Bella and Brie Bella were actually two normal girls trying to make it big.

They worked as waitresses before getting their big break with the WWE.

#4 Paige — Bartender and bouncer

Looking at how young Paige is, it's pretty shocking that she had jobs before her time in the WWE. Well, she did indeed and her jobs were actually with her family business.

Before becoming famous for kick-starting the Women's Revolution, she worked as both a bartender and as a bouncer from the age of 15 at her family's bar back in England.

#3 Charlotte — Personal trainer

Despite being the daughter of the legendary Nature Boy, Ric Flair, Charlotte never considered getting into the family business until much later on her in life. Her original job was that of a certified personal trainer.

She then decided to pursue professional wrestling, and we are all very lucky she decided to do so. She is now a four-time WWE Women's Champion and one of the finest wrestlers on the planet.

#2 Chyna — Singer, dancer, and waitress

Before becoming a huge success in the WWE during The Attitude Era, Chyna bounced around a bunch of different jobs to no real success. She was a belly dancer, a singer, a waitress, and she even trained to become a flight attendant.

She never really found her niche before meeting up with Triple H and Shawn Michaels and coming to the WWE to become a massive star.

#1 Trish Stratus — Gym receptionist

Trish is one the greatest of all-time

Trish Stratus is considered one of the greatest women's wrestlers in the history of the WWE and it's with good reason. She — along with Lita — made women's wrestling matter during a time when they were used more as eye candy than serious performers.

We almost never got the opportunity to experience the beauty and brilliance of Trish, as she was a gym receptionist with no real aim towards professional wrestling before taking a chance with the WWE.
