A good title run this year will work wonders for a few WWE Superstars

WWE have a plethora of talent. It is difficult to pick and choose the top guys, especially considering the fact that a few old-school norms about the ‘top guys’ of the company still dominate the final decisions.

Unfortunately for the talents, when the WWE creatives fail to strike the rod when the iron is hot, several Superstars lose their momentum and fade into oblivion.

In the last year or so, we have seen several new faces arrive on the main roster and immediately impress the crowd. But due to the huge number of talents, some of them have been subjected to limited appearances despite being immensely popular with the crowd.

A lot of WWE Superstars, both old and `new, could use a title run before this year ends in order to strengthen their position on the roster.

In this article, we will take a look at 10 such WWE Superstars who desperately need a good title run in 2020. So, without further ado, let’s begin.

#10 Ricochet

Ricochet is destined to reach the pinnacle of sports entertainment
Ricochet is destined to reach the pinnacle of sports entertainment

While Ricochet does have a US Title reign to his name, it is safe to say that his run with the gold was underwhelming. So far, in 2020, the high-flying WWE Superstar has just one significant act to boast about. His low blow to Brock Lesnar was pivotal in allowing Drew McIntyre to eliminate the Beast Incarnate from Royal Rumble.

In the following weeks, it was evident that the creatives don’t have a huge plan in store for Ricochet. Fortunately for him, he was put in a team alongside Cedric Alexander, who is yet another talent that deserves more on the main roster.

They both have been competing in the RAW Tag Team division and given their talent, it is quite possible for them to find a way into the Tag Team title picture on the red brand.

While RAW has several good tag teams in the locker room, their feuds have not been nearly as engaging as the SmackDown Tag Team feuds. If Ricochet and Alexander win the RAW Tag Team Championship this year, they will certainly find themselves in interesting feuds and will deliver great matches to help elevate the entire division.

But without the title reign, both Ricochet and Alexander will be limited to the mid-card for a long time.

#9 Lacey Evans

WWE Superstar Lacey Evans has improved with each week that she has spent on the main roster. From challenging Becky Lynch for the RAW Women’s Championship to her ongoing feud with Sasha Banka and Bayley, the Sassy Southern Belle has proved that she can keep the viewers interested.

So far, we also know that she can do well as both the heel and the face.

Inside the ring, Evans has been incredible and mostly delivers good matches barring the finisher, but she can’t really be blamed for that one. WWE must put a title on her shoulder before this year ends because she needs that sort of a push to explore her potential.

Given the current Women’s title picture on both RAW and SmackDown, it might be difficult to have someone like Evans walk away with the gold.

But there’s another solution. WWE can use her in a tag team alongside the likes of Naomi and have them compete in the tag team division as well. This will allow the creatives to make the Women’s Tag Team division all the more interesting while simultaneously accounting for a deserved booking for several Superstars backstage.

And who knows, maybe this itself will help Evans in finding that one feud which will announce her arrival amidst the biggest names of the industry.

#8 Otis

Otis has been huentertaining so far
Otis has been hugely entertaining so far

The one-half of Heavy Machinery, Otis, is currently one of the most popular WWE Superstars – thanks to the storyline involving him and Mandy Rose. The fans loved the way this story was narrated and the feud involving Otis, Rose, Sonya Deville, and Dolph Ziggler did better than anyone could have imagined.

It is pretty evident that WWE acknowledges his popularity amidst the crowd as he got a Single’s match against Dolph Ziggler WrestleMania 36. He won that bout and closed the segment with one of the most talked-about moments of this year’s Showcase of Immortals as he kissed Rose.

Although it seems like WWE have already vested a lot of trust in him, it will still be too soon for him to be in Single’s competition.

However, WWE can use this opportunity to add him and Tucker to the SmackDown tag team title picture. They are both entertaining, and their title run will ensure a change from the usual New Day vs. The Usos on the Blue brand.

Don’t get me wrong; both those teams are incredible and always deliver fantastic matches, but a good change is always appreciated. Moreover, it will only help WWE in establishing a more competitive division.

#7 AJ Styles

AJ Styles deserves a title run before the year ends

When AJ Styles reunited with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, the WWE Universe was really excited to see what may unfold. The wrestling fans all over the world had their eyes on a stable that was bound to be successful, but their time on RAW never peaked.

Although WWE did book Anderson and Gallows strongly, they were often limited to acting as a catalyst in other feuds.

And before WWE could have rectified this error, Anderson and Gallows were released from the company with several other Superstars in order to tackle the economic impact of COVID-19. While we can’t do anything about that, there’s still a question about Styles.

The ‘Phenomenal One’ is of the best wrestlers to have graced the squared circle and he deserves to be a part of a title picture sometime soon.

Styles’ epic match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 36 may not be enough to keep him amongst the top stars of the company for the rest of the year, and it will be too sad to see him being pushed into the mid-card – something that won’t go down well with the fans.

Hence, WWE must have him win a title before the ear ends, even if it the United States Championship.

#6 Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler can be one of the best heels in the entire pro-wrestling business

After Shayna Baszler’s first match on RAW, it was reported that Vince McMahon was doubtful of her and didn’t see her as someone who could be in the main event. Despite that, she was booked in the title feud with Becky Lynch.

While Baszler couldn’t win the title, she is widely accepted as one of the few female Superstars who can come across as a credible challenger against The Man.

We have seen the ‘Queen of Spades’ steamroll through the NXT Women’s division. Her feud with Lynch and Bayley during last year’s Survivor Series gave us a glimpse of how intense she can get. Baszler might not have impressed some of the authority figures, but she definitely has the potential to become one of the most dominant heels in the WWE Women’s locker room.

To keep the RAW Women’s Championship feuds interesting, WWE must use Baszler and Lynch in a well-booked rivalry that should see both these Superstars as equals.

They have the potential to deliver a brutal and unforgettable rivalry that must see the title changing hands to keep the fans interested.

#5 Finn Balor

Even 'The Prince' needs gold
Even 'The Prince' needs gold

Last year, Finn Balor shocked the entire world with his return to NXT and his eventual heel turn. In the weeks that followed, Balor made it clear that he is back to being ‘The Prince’ – a gimmick that he used in the early days of his career.

His turn was backed well by his demeanor in the Black and Gold brand and this saw him get more and more brutal and unpredictable with each passing week.

While some may argue that Balor is doing pretty well even without a title on his shoulder, I believe that he needs to get his hands on gold to remind the WWE Universe of his time as the NXT Champion back when he ruled the Black and Gold brand.

Most probably, we will see him feuding with Tommaso Ciampa, Adam Cole, or Johnny Gargano, and all those matches have the potential to be absolute blockbusters.

Having said that, I think that if the WWE creatives do decide to have Balor win the most coveted prize in NXT, they must do it towards the end of 2020. It will help create a good build-up and will allow WWE to extend one of his title feuds until the TakeOver before next year’s WrestleMania.

Maybe that title reign will do more than enough to remind the WWE bosses that he needs to come back and hunt for the Universal Championship – a title that has been waiting for him for a really long time.

#4 Sasha Banks

Well, she has been thanking WWE anyway
Well, she has been thanking WWE anyway

Sasha Banks is undoubtedly one of the most talented female Superstars in the entire WWE roster. Her in-ring skills are top-notch and she complements them well with her work on the mic. And needless to say, she makes for an incredible heel. Ever since losing her Women’s Tag Team title at last year’s WrestleMania, Banks has not got her hands on the gold in WWE.

When she returned after her four-month hiatus, Banks got a chance to challenge Becky Lynch for the RAW Women’s Championship. The two delivered a good match, but The Man retained her Championship. At the same time, Bayley turned heel, and the two best friends have been involved in quite an entertaining run on SmackDown for months.

However, now we have seen the budding rivalry between the two Superstars, as Banks seems to be eyeing the SmackDown Women’s Championship that is currently resting on Bayley’s shoulder. The latter, on the other hand, was responsible for costing Banks two huge opportunities to enter the title picture.

It seems like WWE are going to take their time with this feud as it is one of the most anticipated rivalries, courtesy of their time in NXT that resulted in one of the best matches in WWE history.

If WWE are going to book this feud, they must ensure that Banks gets to win the title for the first time on the Blue brand. She has earned that with her work and will surely make for a great Champion who delivers in each match.

#3 Aleister Black

This gimmick is too good to be wasted
This gimmick is too good to be wasted

It won’t be an exaggeration to say that Aleister Black is criminally underused on the main roster. This former NXT Superstar is straight-up incredible and deserves to be a part of much, much better booking. Ever since his move to the main roster, Black has found himself searching hard for momentum.

He is already over with the crowd, and WWE should involve him in well-narrated storylines, especially if it involves a title. His short-lived feud with Buddy Murphy helped the latter in gaining much-needed attention backstage, and that was the reason behind the push that he received.

Prior to WrestleMania, Black was engaged in another feud with AJ Styles, which had the fans talking about some amazing possibilities.

The fact that Black keeps the WWE Universe buzzing even with the limited appearances and no title should convince the WWE creatives to have him involved in the title picture.

While the WWE World Titles can wait, he should win the United States Championship or the Intercontinental Championship before the year ends.

#2 Tommaso Ciampa

Ciampa deserves to win back his beloved 'goldie
Ciampa deserves to win back his beloved 'goldie'

In March 2019, Tommaso Ciampa sustained an unfortunate neck injury to force him to relinquish the NXT Championship. Seven months later, he returned to the Black and Gold brand and saw his ‘goldie’ wrapped around Adam Cole. The two have been feuding ever since, but Ciampa also had to face a few unexpected betrayals along the way.

First Finn Balor and then Johnny Gargano - The Blackheart had enough distractions along the way. However, all these short feuds contributed significantly to establishing him as the biggest babyface on NXT. He is bound to be the one who takes away the NXT Championship from Adam Cole, and it should happen this year.

The leader of the Undisputed Era is already the longest-reigning NXT Champion in history, and some might say that he is also the greatest one, considering the fact that he is the only title-holder to have defended NXT’s most coveted prize across all the three brands.

But just like everything good, Cole’s Championship reign must eventually come to an end, and Ciampa should be the one to script that epilogue, which is sure to be poetic in nature.

#1 Roman Reigns

The 'Big Dog' needs a big title run
The 'Big Dog' needs a big title run

Last year, Roman Reigns returned to WWE after successfully battling leukemia. Upon his return, the ‘Big Dog’ found himself in several feuds. His extended rivalry with Baron Corbin helped a lot in putting him over with the crowd who cheered for him against the ‘King of the Ring.’

Reigns finally found himself in the title picture as he was scheduled to face Goldberg for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36.

As a precaution, Reigns pulled out of the show and was replaced by Braun Strowman, who eventually won the title. Now, it is expected that Reigns will once again challenge for the Universa; Championship when he returns. Hopefully, when he does, the creatives will use an engaging angle to book him in the title feud so that he can get his hands on the gold like it was planned.

I feel it would be better if he returns as a heel because he will most likely face ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt for the title. Give Wyatt’s popularity, it will be difficult to have Reigns act as the babyface, but it will be convenient to have him win the Championship as a heel. The ‘Big Dog’ desperately needs a title run in 2020, but more than that, he needs a well-booked heel turn.
