12 Attitude Era WWE Superstars who are still wrestling in 2020

Professional wrestling is in a different place right now. It could be argued that with the rise of other wrestling companies like AEW, Impact Wrestling, ROH, NJPW, MLW besides WWE, wrestling is more popular than ever before. The shocking amount of wrestling that is available on television is scintillating to think about.

There are tons of wrestlers who are doing their thing and entertaining audiences across the world. But with that, comes the rise of nostalgia as some companies have used wrestling legends to great effect. For some of the wrestling fans, it acts as a powerful igniter to a flame that cannot be extinguished.

Considering that WWE's Attitude Era created so many great stars that went to have fantastic careers, it's interesting that some of them are still around in 2020, is surprising and kind of awesome considering some of the ages of the WWE Superstars involved.

Here are 12 WWE Attitude Era Superstars who are still wrestling in 2020.

#12 Ken Shamrock

Ken Shamrock was a true product of the Attitude Era. He was one of the first UFC Fighters to sign with WWE and brought an authenticity to the world of Sports Entertainment. While his promo skills were not in the same league as some on the roster, he made up for it in the ring with some innate in-ring ability and had fantastic matches with The Rock, Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, Mick Foley and others.

Now, at 55 years and will turn 56 in February, the World's Most Dangerous Man doesn't show signs of stopping anytime soon. His current work in Impact Wrestling is commendable and he's still hoping that he'll able to have one last match in WWE.

Here's hoping that dream comes true if it ever comes to pass.

#11 Goldberg

Yes, before someone says it, Goldberg was in WCW during the Attitude Era and only arrived in WWE after WrestleMania 19 in 2003. But if there was one star that WCW created from scratch, it was Bill Goldberg. Da Man was the true definition of what a star looked like and his ability to completely destroy his opponents at will was a reason why he was made WCW World Champion.

Now, at age 53, he's still very much active. He returned last year in 2019 to take on The Undertaker in a dream match which didn't go as planned in Saudi Arabia. He then had another match at SummerSlam 2019, where he easily defeated Dolph Ziggler. There is no doubt he will have a match sometime whether that be in Saudi Arabia or even SummerSlam 2020.

#10 Rob Van Dam

The Whole Dam Show has somehow managed to stay relevant all these years. Rob Van Dam (RVD) may be 49 years old, but he's still doing what loves. Though RVD had most of his success during the Ruthless Aggression Era, he came to prominence in the 1990s as an ECW Original and really got over with the fans during the Invasion angle.

RVD got to wrestle the likes of The Rock, Kane, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, John Cena and several others during his time there. He's currently signed to Impact Wrestling where he has been featured alongside his real life girlfriend Katie Forbes. While his time there has been well received, a recent risque segment featuring him, Forbes and another lady got Impact Wrestling banned from Twitch.

Well, they don't call him The Whole F'N show for nothing.

#9 Diamond Dallas Page (DDP)

Diamond Dallas Page started his career back in the 1980s and still managed to make a comeback at the age of 63. When he came out of retirement to wrestle at AEW Bash at the Beach, he actually created as one of the few people who appeared on cable televised wrestling programs across five decades.

In doing so, DDP has appeared on televised programs for AEW, WWE, WCW, TNA and AWA. Now, that's a stunning achievement. While he did debut in WWE during the Invasion storyline, his proposed feud with The Undertaker turned out to a big wash as he was revealed as the man who was stalking Undertaker's wife.

While his WWE run didn't go as planned, DDP still had an amazing run in WCW as one of its top stars. While he's not pushing his DDP Yoga, he's doing his part in helping out Cody Rhodes and the development of AEW.

#8 Dustin Rhodes aka Goldust

Imagine that. Goldust aka Dustin Rhodes is still wrestling in 2020. He may be 50 years old, but the heart is young and his impressive fitness is on full display every time he goes to the ring. Though, his best run in wrestling has been as Goldust.

The character was initially portrayed as an androgynous man with questionable intent towards his fellow WWE Superstars, which eventually morphed into a lovable freak of nature. The character got over because of Dustin Rhodes' talent as it would have surely died an early death in an another wrestler's hands.

His current role in AEW has allowed him to provide his experience to a young AEW Roster whom he can impart his knowledge, as well as putting them over, that includes talents like Sammy Guevara.

#7 Billy Gunn

When Billy Gunn signed with AEW, no one expected the 56-year old WWE Hall of Famer to wrestle with the current AEW Roster. Most thought that he would be more of a backstage producer helping the current crop of young wrestlers in a producing capacity. But he did so on an episode of AEW Dynamite in the Diamond Dozen Battle Royale.

Even more interesting, he teamed up with his son, Austin Gunn on an episode of AEW Dark. It was also announced that Austin has been signed to the promotion and it's very possible that they could be teaming up in the near future as Gunn trademarked 'Gunn Club' very recently.

#6 Triple H

Triple H is like a dependable car that keeps chugging along, aggregating miles on its body, but still managing to hang in there. That may sound like a putdown to Triple H, who is now 50 years old, but it's actually a compliment. Triple H came of age in the WWE's Attitude Era and has been able to stay relevant all these years.

Triple H may have taken a backstage role as he's gotten older wrestling only a handful of times in the year. He has never missed a WrestleMania and it's highly likely he will not miss this year's Showcase of the Immortals. Like The Undertaker, he has become synonymous with WWE's Flagship PPV and it'll be interesting to see who his opponent will be.

Perhaps, someone from the NXT brand? Only time will tell.

#5 Jeff Hardy

With his brother Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy took the world by storm as being one of the best in the business. Of the two brothers, he became a 3-time WWE World Champion and was always being pushed ahead of his brother. As a singles competitor, he has proven that he as good as anybody in the ring and has never disappointed, especially with his jaw-dropping moves.

When he and his brother returned to the WWE in 2017, people expected a lot from the pair and The Hardy Boyz made a return at WrestleMania 33 to win the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship. But since then, Jeff has suffered injuries and has been out of commission since April 2019.

Considering that he's only 42, he does have a few years left in the ring. It'll be curious to see what his future plans are, since his WWE contract is due to expire in March 2020. But that can be expected to be extended to make up for the time he has lost due to injury. It'll be curious to see what plans, if any, WWE has for him when he does return to the ring.

#4 Matt Hardy

Along with his brother Jeff, The Hardy Boys defined the Tag Team Division in the Attitude Era. The older Hardy, while not as successful, as his brother, actually found success outside of the WWE in Impact Wrestling. The 45-year-old Matt Hardy proved how creative he was when he created the Broken Universe and was expected to bring that with him when he returned in 2017.

Due to trademark issues, Matt Hardy created Woken Matt Hardy which proved unsuccessful as he was placed in a feud and then aligned himself with Bray Wyatt. Some have pointed to this, as Vince McMahon was unsure of how to book Matt Hardy in the WWE.

Now, with his contract set to expire in March 2020, there have been rumblings that he could be headed to AEW to lead The Dark Order. Considering the limited schedule that AEW has and the creative freedom he could have in AEW, there is no telling where Hardy will eventually end up.

That being said, it's remarkable that he has still managed to stay relevant, considering that he became a household name back in 1998 and now in 2020, he's still trying new things, much like Chris Jericho.

#3 The Undertaker

The Man from Death Valley is practically forever. His origins precede the Attitude Era, but like Madonna, he has constantly changed with the times to stay relevant. It was actually during that era that The Undertaker provided new glimpses into his persona as The Prince of Darkness and his eventual transformation into the American Badass.

While he now wrestles only a handful of times and missed last year's WrestleMania, it's only a matter of time that he appears in 2020 to wrestle whether that be at WrestleMania 36 or one of the Saudi Arabia shows.

It should be noted that recent reports suggest that The Undertaker is negotiating a spot on the WrestleMania 36 card, though it's unclear who his opponent will be if it does actually happen. Most WWE fans would love to see him in a feud with The Fiend, but it's highly doubtful that will happen at WrestleMania.

At age 54, The Undertaker is limited compared to the days when he could go bell-to-bell, but if he does wrestle, it will be against a much younger opponent.

#2 Edge

Edge. The Rated R Superstar. The Ultimate Opportunist. The Master Manipulator. There are so many ways to describe Edge and his return to professional wrestling after 9 years. It was rumored for weeks that he would be returning and fans were aware, but seeing is believing and that crowd popped big when he hit that ring for Royal Rumble 2020.

Edge, at the age of 46, still looks like someone who is still passionate about wrestling. When he made his WWE debut back in 1998, few would have expected his character to reach the heights that he did. He, along with Christian, became one of the best Tag Teams that defined the division in the Attitude Era.

Being forced to retire in 2011 due to a neck injury, his comeback is one for the ages. In doing so, he joins an elite list of wrestlers who came back after an injury like Daniel Bryan as well as being some of the few Attitude Era stars who are still wrestling today.

Considering that it's most likely that he will wrestle Randy Orton at WrestleMania 36, it'll be interesting to see who else he will face in the coming months.

#1 Chris Jericho

If there is anyone who are still doing their thing today and considers himself to be the George Harrison of the Attitude Era, there is no one like Chris Jericho. The man has defied the odds and despite losing a little bit of step in the ring, his promo skills and character work is still way above the rest.

His promo when introducing his new stable 'The Inner Circle' was a masterclass and has defined what AEW Dynamite has come to be known for, since its inception back in October 2019. Jericho was easily one of the more popular acts when he debuted in WWE but he was unlucky to be in the same class of wrestlers like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Mick Foley.

But, he carved a name for himself and has been able to reinvent himself constantly while still staying relevant, even at the age of 49. The current AEW Champion is a locker room leader and only wants to do the best in the ring and impart his knowledge to a young AEW Roster.

Come what may, Chris Jericho will go down as a GOAT in professional wrestling and some fans will struggle to say otherwise.
