One of the biggest moments from the August 19 episode of WWE Raw came when Braun Strowman teamed with Seth Rollins to win the Raw Tag Team titles from The OC in the main event.

The match was arranged earlier in the night after Strowman’s one-on-one United States Championship encounter against AJ Styles ended in disqualification following interference from Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

Rollins then suggested to Strowman in a backstage segment that they should team up to challenge for the titles later in the show. The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner agreed, and the makeshift duo went on to surprisingly leave as champions at the end of the night.

While “The Beastslayer” has previously won titles with Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Jason Jordan as a member of WWE’s main roster, Strowman had only ever held a tag title on one previous occasion – and for just one day – prior to his triumph with Rollins.

In this article, let’s take a look at two Superstars who have failed in the past as Strowman’s tag team partner and three who succeeded.

#5 Succeeded: Nicholas

When Braun Strowman was given the freedom to choose his own tag team partner to face Sheamus and Cesaro for the Raw Tag Team titles at WrestleMania 34, many people thought that he would attempt to revive Bray Wyatt’s career by realigning with the man who brought him to the main roster.

However, as it turned out, Strowman walked through the New Orleans crowd and shocked the WWE Universe by choosing a 10-year-old child, Nicholas, as his tag team partner.

Nicholas, who we now know is the real-life son of WWE referee John Cone, watched on from the ring apron as “The Monster Among Men” decimated their opponents to pick up one of the craziest WrestleMania victories of all time.

The unlikely duo relinquished their titles the next day and never teamed together again, but a 100 percent record is good enough for them to make it onto this list.

#4 Failed: Kane

Due to Roman Reigns suffering from an illness, the main event of the TLC pay-per-view in October 2017 saw the returning Kurt Angle become an honorary Shield member by joining forces with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose against Braun Strowman, Kane, Cesaro, Sheamus and The Miz in a 5-on-3 TLC match.

The story going into the PPV main event revolved around The Shield’s first match together again as a trio following their long-awaited reunion, while the focus turned to Angle’s unexpected in-ring comeback after Reigns was forced to miss the event.

However, when the show was over, the biggest story of them all surrounded Strowman, who became a babyface for the first time in WWE after being attacked by his own partners – notably Kane – during the chaotic 35-minute encounter.

“The Big Red Machine” and “The Monster Among Men” looked like an unstoppable force at times earlier on in the match, but Kane ended their brief alliance by launching several steel chairs onto Strowman on the stage area before combining with the rest of his partners to throw him in a garbage truck.

Needless to say, the two giants have not teamed with each other since.

#3 Succeeded: Ember Moon

When you think of Braun Strowman and the WWE Mixed Match Challenge, you probably remember a moment from the early weeks of the inaugural tournament between him and Alexa Bliss.

But, looking at the stats, the “Team Little Big” duo only won two of their matches in the first version of the intergender tag team competition – versus Sami Zayn & Becky Lynch and Jimmy Uso & Naomi – before they were eliminated by eventual winners The Miz & Asuka.

Later in 2018, WWE's decision-makers had planned to reunite the popular duo in the second Mixed Match Challenge but Bliss missed the tournament due to an injury, so Ember Moon took her place and formed “The Monster Eclipse” with Strowman.

The unusual pairing won all four of their matches together – versus Kevin Owens & Natalya, Finn Balor & Bayley, Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox and Bobby Lashley & Mickie James – but Strowman then suffered an injury and had to be replaced by Curt Hawkins, who promptly lost his only match as Moon’s tag team partner against eventual runners-up Mahal & Fox.

Overall, the team of Strowman & Moon won all four of their matches together.

#2 Failed: Drew McIntyre

Braun Strowman joined forces with Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler, aka “The Dogs of War”, after SummerSlam 2018 as he attempted to recruit allies in his battle against Roman Reigns and the rest of The Shield.

The makeshift trio had success on the October 8 episode of Raw when they defeated their dysfunctional rivals in a six-man tag team match, but Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose were victorious in the other two encounters between the factions.

One week after their triumph, the team of Strowman, McIntyre and Ziggler attempted to win for the second week in a row against “The Hounds of Justice” in a rematch on Raw. However, McIntyre accidentally hit a Claymore on Strowman, causing the heel trio to lose, and he followed up by purposely landing the move on his tag team partner again after the match.

“The Monster Among Men” has often mentioned in media interviews that he believes that a match between himself and McIntyre is strong enough to headline any WWE show, even WrestleMania, but their only one-on-one encounter to date ended in a disqualification after just six minutes.

Regardless of whether or not their paths cross as enemies again one day, do not expect these two men to team up any time in the near future!

#1 Succeeded: Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has become one of the most successful tag team Superstars of the last decade in WWE, winning tag team titles with Roman Reigns (2013), Dean Ambrose (2017 and 2018), Jason Jordan (2017) and Braun Strowman (2019) since his debut on the main roster in 2012.

The former Shield member’s first alliance with Strowman came way back in November 2016 when the two men formed a dysfunctional team with Chris Jericho – their fellow Survivor Series team member – to defeat The New Day on Raw.

The trio went on to join forces with Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns in a five-on-five elimination match at the pay-per-view, but Team SmackDown’s Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton emerged as the only survivors.

In April 2018, Rollins and Strowman found themselves on the same team again when they tagged with Bobby Lashley, Bobby Roode and Finn Balor to defeat Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, The Miz and The Miztourage on an episode of Raw shortly after WrestleMania 34.

Fast forward to August 2019 and the unlikely allies surprisingly left Raw as Tag Team Champions after defeating Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in the main event, meaning they have won three of their four matches when they have been on the same side, as well as a set of tag titles!
