A few interesting observations from this week's edition of Monday Night RAW (August 19)

This week's edition of WWE Monday Night RAW (19th August 2019) saw a lot of contrasting moments. From The Fiend attacking WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler to Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins winning the RAW Tag Team championships, last night's episode had it all.

There was a collective sense of restlessness amongst viewers when it comes to this week's episode of RAW. This does not mean that the show was bad, but it didn't have enough fuel to keep the average viewer hooked till the last hour, which was when the most important moment from the episode took place.

Let us take a look at some interesting observations from this week's episode of Monday Night RAW:

#3 Why Seth Rollins becoming a 3-time double champion opens up new opportunities

Seth Rollins became a double champion (for the 3rd time in his career) after teaming up with Braun Strowman to secure the RAW Tag Team Championships from Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.

This time around, however, Seth Rollins is one of the top leading babyface champions of the company.

Being a babyface allows his character to explore new possibilities, instead of shying away from potential challengers as a cowardly heel.

Seth Rollins' Universal Championship reign is at crossroads quite early on. This is because AJ Styles could come after the title if events unfold in their natural course.

On the other hand, Braun Strowman could turn heel at any given moment, since the show has already established the fact that Strowman has been eyeing the Universal Championship for quite a while now.

These events, in turn, alter the course for the RAW Tag Team Champions as well. Let us see how this scenario shapes up in the next few weeks.

#2 The King of the Ring Tournament allocates more TV Time to WWE's mid-card superstars

While tournaments of such nature can get repetitive throughout its proceedings, there are several advantages of hosting a King of the Ring Tournament at this time of the year.

First of all, many fans tune in to see more action instead of plain talk, and with tournaments like these, WWE can market matches without storylines as part of a gruelling competition that will declare a definite winner.

But more importantly, WWE's mid-card tier (or lower mid-card tier) consists of talented superstars who aren't involved in established feuds right now.

So by integrating them as part of a collective tournament gives these superstars more valuable screen time that doesn't feel like filler content.

Thanks to King of the Ring 2019, matches over which an average viewer would change the channel have increased stakes added to them.

Who do you think will end up winning the whole tournament?

#1 The trio conflict around the 24/7 title might be its mainstay feud for a while

Now that Elias has been the 24/7 champion for at least a week, one thing that has become clear is that this particular sub-plot revolves around a trio, mainly - Elias, R-Truth and Drake Maverick.

In 'Game of Thrones', we had multiple central characters aiming for the throne, and sometimes the two biggest characters were the ones battling for supremacy, whilst a third party held true power all along.

Instead of a horde of superstars chasing the 24/7 champion backstage every week, we now have two central characters (R-Truth and Drake Maverick) chasing for the gold, which lies in a third character's (Elias') safe hands.

Yes, I do realize that both of these examples vary to a great degree, but it just goes on to show that the 24/7 championship scenario has managed to succeed so far mostly because the writers keep introducing new conflicts before its current storyline runs out of steam.

How long will Elias be able to hold on to the 24/7 title?
