3 Mistakes That WWE Made On Raw (29 October 2018)

What are they doing?
What are they doing?

Last night's WWE Monday Night RAW was the go-home show for Crown Jewel. WWE had one final chance to get people excited for Friday's show. They booked this show just like any other edition of RAW. But one thing that they could really manage better was the time. Segments that should have been shorter went on for way too long. And there was not much significant wrestling that we saw either.

In comparison to last week's, this show was not a good one. Last week was special but then WWE came right back to square one and failed to keep the momentum going. The Seth Rollins-Dean Ambrose segment was fine, but again it didn't have to go that long if WWE had nothing else planned for it.

In this article, we will take a look at three mistakes that WWE made on Raw:

#3 Replacing John Cena with Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley will replace John Cena in the WWE World Cup

Rumors circulated over the weekend about John Cena telling the WWE that he does not want to travel to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel. So WWE had to make a replacement because Cena was one of the eight participants in the World Cup. WWE did a match between Bobby Lashley and Finn Balor which ended in a DQ after Lio Rush interfered. After the match, Lashley attacked Balor and that made Baron Corbin a happy guy.

As a result of this, Lashley was awarded a place in the World Cup and he will face Seth Rollins in Round 1 of the tournament. I believe that WWE had so many options around and they decided to go with Lashley. At first, when Lio Rush joined him, his gimmick was entertaining. But ever since he has turned heel, he has got no heat whatsoever.

I think McIntyre, Elias, Balor or even Dean Ambrose could have been a better option to replace John Cena.

#2 No good wrestling match on a wrestling show

All segments no wrestling
All segments no wrestling

A WWE go-home show is usually not known to have much wrestling on it. It has typical all-out brawls which people love or a lot of talking. This go-home show was somewhat similar but the wrestling matches WWE booked for this show were awful. It began with a segment and ended with one. So Dolph Ziggler vs Apollo Crews was the main event match for the show which was pretty average, to say the least.

To follow up the all women's PPV, WWE booked a 10-woman tag team match and we all know what happens here. The Balor-Lashley match ended in a DQ for an angle, Elias vs Mahal was another filler match. No one knows what WWE is doing with Bobby Roode & Chad Gable. Their breakup is still awaited and it looks like they have changed their plans.

Moreover, the good wrestlers like Strowman, McIntyre, Rollins, and Ambrose were not even booked to wrestle on the show. So whatever the case may be, wrestling wise this show was totally lackluster.

#1 WWE is out of ideas for DX vs Brothers Of Destruction

Nostalgia is no longer an option
Nostalgia is no longer an option

It feels weird and awesome at the same time that we are going to see a DX vs Brothers of Destruction match in 2018. WWE did a good job to lead in to this match. They used the Triple H vs The Undertaker match as a path to book this huge tag-team match for Crown Jewel. But it looks like WWE doesn't know what they are doing with this feud.

The haunted threat promos we have seen from Taker & Kane didn't actually scare anyone. And the segments we have seen on TV were also weak. This is the problem WWE face whenever they try to make legends' segments feel like new stuff. Nostalgia can help them once or twice, but not always. The legends might be old, but the ideas need to be new.

There is no doubt that this tag-team match has helped WWE sell loads of tickets for Crown Jewel. But from a storyline perspective and what we have seen on TV, it just doesn't get me excited for this match.
