3 mistakes WWE has already made before Clash of Champions 2019

We are less than 10 days away from the Clash of Champions, aka the PPV where every Championship Title is under the obligation to be defended and WWE has done a commendable job in booking some great matches for the event. The WWE Title rematch between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton is looking promising, especially after Orton recruited Revival under his wings. The fact that Revival is challenging the New Day for the SmackDown LIVE Tag Team Titles also adds an interesting dynamic to this feud. Sasha Banks made a brilliant return and has been excellent so far as a heel.

Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman have to pull double duty as they have to defend their RAW Tag Team Titles against the unlikely pair of Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler, along with their Universal title clash. There are other matchups for the event that can guarantee us a spectacular show.

However, WWE has already committed some mistakes ahead of Clash of Champions 2019. In this article, we will take a look at a few of them.

#3 Most of the challengers did not earn their title shots.

WWE promised us that Superstars will have to earn their title shots.
WWE promised us that Superstars will have to earn their title shots.

The team of Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler survived a Tag Team Turmoil match to earn themselves the opportunity to challenge Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman.

A while ago, WWE promised the fans that Superstars will have to earn their title shots. However, WWE is backing down on its promise and building championship feuds out of nowhere. Now, since Cedric Alexander pinned AJ Styles on the latest RAW, WWE announced a title match between those two at Clash of Champions.

Earning a title shot - in contrast to being given a title shot - will only give more credibility to a challenger.

#2 Shoving almost all the titles into one feud

The Universal title match is between the reigning RAW tag team champions Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman.

On the latest episode of RAW, the United States Champion AJ Styles was denied an opportunity to challenge for the Universal Title, thanks to the moderation of the contract signing ceremony by Stone Cold Steve Austin. However, The Phenomenal One, along with OC, is still playing a huge part in the main event scene on RAW. Even though Styles has to defend his US Title against Cedric Alexander, who pinned him on RAW, Styles may get involved in Universal Title match.

Before Cedric got his opportunity to challenge Styles, the United States Title was playing second fiddle in the Universal Title feud.

The Universal Title is contested between the reigning RAW Tag Team champions - Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman. WWE made a similar approach during TLC 2017, where the IC title and RAW Tag Team titles were thrown into the same feud and the fans were not too pleased about it.

#1 Booking themselves into a corner

It would be interesting to see how WWE would book the Universal title feud.

WWE had made a tremendous mistake by booking themselves into a corner. Sure, we need to applaud WWE creatives since they are proving us that they are willing to make some bold decisions. But the issue arises when they start relying on cheap cop-outs.

Case in point, the Universal Ttitle match between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman. Rollins is coming into the match with huge momentum. The Architect defeated Brock Lesnar clean, a feat achieved by only a few WWE Superstars. Rollins is the irresistible force right now in the WWE, however, his opponent, Braun Strowman is just recovering after spending a lot of time in the mid-card. Strowman has been robbed of a World Title reign multiple times and WWE ruined him whenever he was on the top.

Now, WWE is in a corner and has to make a bold decision at Clash of Champions.

Will WWE waste Strowman again or will they rather have Rollins lose the title in his first defence after defeating the Beast clean? It is a tough call for WWE but having a cheap DQ or count-out finish would also kill the fun.

Another example is the RAW Women's Title feud between Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks. Lynch has been the cornerstone in the Women's division since the last Survivor Series. She even pinned Ronda Rousey in the main event of WrestleMania 35. However, the new Sasha Banks has been a legitimately entertaining heel. Will Sasha lose the title match and lose her momentum or will WWE waste all the push given to Lynch on a filler PPV?
