3 Possible Opponents for Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 35

Shane McMahon is probably the most successful person in the McMahon family. No, we’re not talking about him outside the ring, but inside the ring, he is still the most successful wrestler to come out of the McMahon family.

Shane is the most successful McMahon in WrestleMania events too, where he has won three matches while his father has won none and his sister too lost the only match she was a part of with her husband Triple H against Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey.

With that said, it is more than just a possibility that he will feature in a match in next year’s WrestleMania too, just like he did this year. In 2018 he teamed up with the leader of the Yes Movement Daniel Bryan to take on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

With 2019 fast approaching and WrestleMania 35 just a few weeks away, we have compiled a list of three men who could face the 48-year-old McMahon in singles competition at the Grandest Stage of Them All.

#3 The Likely - The Miz

The Miz and Shane McMahon have a lot going on lately. Suddenly we’ve seen The Miz fall to grace and making a fool out of himself on television.

Shane McMahon had replaced The Miz in the final of the WWE World Cup after The A-Lister was ‘injured’. Shane went on to win the trophy, calling it a win for SmackDown Live and stealing all the effort put in by Dolph Ziggler and The Miz to reach the finals.

The two men have been involved in some comedic segments on SmackDown since, and we’ve seen Shane make The Miz the captain of SmackDown Live for Survivor Series and even team up with him in a tag match against some jobbers who ultimately won the match.

There are reports that The Miz is slowly turning face on SmackDown which can be seen as a welcome move. If that is the case, the current happenings between Shane and The Miz could escalate soon and result in a full-on rivalry between the two men which could result in a match at WrestleMania.

#2 The Unlikely - Daniel Bryan

How long will it take for WWE to revisit this rivalry?

Daniel Bryan was called the best by Paul Heyman not too long ago. That resulted in a quarrel between Bryan and AJ Styles, which ultimately led to Bryan winning the WWE Championship after turning heel.

While the Paul Heyman angle was used to book a match between the two so Styles could drop the championship, what if WWE has more plans in store using the same angle?

WWE heels are known to take certain things to their head and attaching titles to themselves. This means ‘The New Daniel Bryan’ may also want to lay claim to the Best in the World title which Shane McMahon sure does not deserve even as a McMahon.

If Daniel Bryan remains the champion walking into WrestleMania, it is more than unlikely for a match between Bryan and Shane to take place.

However, if Bryan is going to drop the title before WrestleMania, then it is more than likely that the former friends and partners in the ring could see things get worse between them which could lead to a match at WrestleMania 35.

#1 The Best – Tommaso Ciampa

Did someone say Best in the World? Well, we have a candidate right here who can lay claim to such a title!

Tommaso Ciampa is enjoying his time at the top of NXT as the NXT Champion and also as the best heel in the brand at the moment. He is a far better wrestler than many men we see on the main roster today.

He loves titles being attached to him, and a Best in the World would fit his current heel character very well.

Even though he is in NXT now, it’s always possible that he may drop the title and be called up to the main roster sooner than later. After all, the WWE loves to cash in on their hottest superstars.

Moving to the blue brand can do wonders for Ciampa with the presence of Rusev, Almas, Daniel Bryan, Styles, and Nakamura on the roster. He could work his first feud with the Commissioner of SmackDown himself and steal the title from him to establish himself as a top heel in the brand before moving forward.
