3 Reasons why Sasha Banks will beat WWE RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch, and 3 reasons why The Man will retain her title

On Monday Night RAW last week, Sasha Banks made her long-awaited return to the ring in shocking fashion. Interrupting a promo by the injured Natalya, the Boss showed her true colours by blindsiding the Canadian, laying her out in the ring.

This led to the interference of RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch, and though The Man has been truly dominant since her WrestleMania 35 victory, Sasha was able to get the advantage thanks to a steel chair.

With this attack, a title match between the two is looking very likely possibly at the Clash of Champions Pay Per View next month.

Here are three reasons Sasha Banks will beat WWE RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch, and 3 reasons The Man will retain

#3 Why Sasha will win: To stop The Man from getting stale

Becky Lynch’s Raw Championship reign has had ups and downs over the past few months. Despite her huge win at in the main event of WrestleMania (the first women's main event in the show's history), fans were not thrilled with her lengthy feud against Lacey Evans, and her one-off match against Natalya didn't excite the crowd either. WWE implementing her real-life relationship with Seth Rollins has also hurt the momentum of both wrestlers.

Many vocal fans will cheer Sasha Banks over Lynch due to the fresh new character of her heel side. Lynch has already risked growing stale due to the booking of her title reign. Banks winning the Raw Women’s Championship means Lynch can chase the title again to prevent the reign from growing stale, as it seems The Man's journey to the top was better than her being there.

#3 Why The Man will retain: They're looking to break another record

Ronda Rousey's record-breaking reign as champion could be broken by The Man.

If there's one thing WWE loves to do, it's making records and breaking records. Even over the past few years, several records have been broken, such as the New Day becoming the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions of all time, toppling Demolition, who held the accolade for decades.

In the women's division, Charlotte Flair has become a record-breaker of her own, capturing nine Women's Championships, knocking Trish Stratus' seven reigns down to second place.

In the three and a half years since the RAW Women's title was unveiled, seven Superstars have held the gold, with Lynch's old foe 'Rowdy' Ronda Rousey having the longest individual reign.

Capturing the title at SummerSlam 2018 from Alexa Bliss (who holds the record for the most combined days as champion), Rousey's reign lasted for 232 days, the longest of any single reign with the title.

Now at 135 days and counting, it makes sense for WWE to keep her going until Becky beats Ronda if nothing else than to give The Man another savage barb to use in her promos.

#2 Why Sasha will win: To keep her with the company

A title win could help convince the Boss to stay.

WWE clearly wants Sasha Banks to remain with the company long-term for good reason. Banks is one of the top female stars for the company and a former four-time RAW Women's Champion. She was also part of the first WWE Women's Tag Team Champions and has remained one of the most popular stars in WWE, despite some less than stellar booking.

Despite the success she has had both in NXT and on the main roster, she expressed a desire to leave after losing the Women’s Tag Team Championship with Bayley at WrestleMania 35.

The belief was that Banks wanted to get released from her WWE contract to join another promotion like AEW. This could inspire WWE to finally book Banks strong as a heel to make her a legitimate top star. A great run here may be enough to prevent her from eventually leaving for AEW.

With NXT moving to the USA Network to compete with AEW on TNT, it's clear that the war between the two promotions is heating up, and the last thing McMahon needs is the Boss jumping ship.

#2 Why The Man will retain: Because Sasha could still leave the company

Banks could still join the rival promotion All Elite Wrestling.
Banks could still join the rival promotion All Elite Wrestling.

Sasha Banksdesire to leave WWE is the reason she was off television for months, and though she wasn't on TV, the Boss still was able to cause some damage. As rumors of a backstage incident at WrestleMania spread, neither Sasha nor the company looked good.

Though she has now reappeared on Monday Night RAW, nothing has changed in the reports about her return. It is entirely possible that Banks wants to work through the rest of her contract before becoming a free agent since WWE can extend it if a talent sits out for too long

If Banks has no interest in re-signing once her contract expires, WWE would likely be foolish to have her defeat the biggest star in the women’s division. Becky Lynch has made it clear that she wants to stick around in WWE for the long haul as one of the faces of the company. If The Boss is looking to leave WWE (possibly for All Elite Wrestling), then the last thing the WWE should do is have her beat The Man.

#1 Why Sasha will win: RAW needs a top female heel

Ask yourself right now - who is the top dominant heel female on Monday Night RAW? Ronda Rousey hasn't been seen on the show in months, and Lacey Evans has been used a lot less since losing to The Man. Alexa Bliss, who once ran the red brand as the Goddess of the roster, is now more focused on her WWE Women's Tag team title partnership with Alexa Bliss.

The instant success of Sasha Banks in her return has shown just great she is as a heel character. Banks’ best time in NXT came with the heel Boss character. A return is certainly making one of the top villains on the entire roster of both shows and all divisions.

Winning the Raw Women’s Championship over Becky Lynch would cement her as having a top spot in the company. If The Boss goes on to take the title from The Man, Banks not only will become the official top female heel on Monday Night Raw, but she may be the best overall heel on the WWE roster moving forward.

#1 Why The Man will retain: Ronda Rousey

Ronda and Becky are yet to face in a one-on-one match.

Though the WrestleMania 35 main event gave Becky Lynch the biggest win of her career, the finish of the match was not exactly the huge moment many fans had in mind.

Instead, the inconclusive finish that saw Becky pin Rousey despite the Hot Rod's shoulders being up left a lot of fans scratching their heads, as well as the possibility of a rematch between the two. Both ladies showed great chemistry in the various segments throughout the months that set up the triple threat main event including Charlotte Flair.

Lynch and Rousey still have yet to have their big singles match, as their match that nearly took place at Survivor Series 2018 was canceled after The Man suffered a concussion.

Rousey’s great relationship with WWE means the door is open for her to return any time she wants. The biggest attraction for the match would be if Lynch keeps the title reign going strong leading up to whenever she faces Rousey in solo action. Whether a match between the two would see Rousey retain the gold is unclear, though it's obvious The Man needs to keep the title before then.
