It is a common misconception that being the son or daughter of a former WWE Superstar always leads to huge amount of success for the fighter in focus too. But that is not true, any WWE Superstar achieves success not because of his family background, instead due to his hard work and dedication.

There have been various second generation WWE Superstars who have made a mark across the years. All of these WWE Superstars have had their ups and downs in the company, but only few of them have gone on to earn a big name from the industry.

As for those who couldn't be successful, it did not mean that they lacked potential to become great WWE Superstars but they weren't booked properly owing to various reasons. Here are three second generation WWE Superstars who achieved huge success and two second generation stars who failed to ascend to stardom.


#5 Became a huge star: Bret Hart

Bret "The Hitman" Hart is one of the most iconic figures in wrestling during his time. He achieved a lot of success in WWE and many other promotions. On most occasions, he was a part of a number of classic matches that most of the fans re-watch even today.

In the latest WWE NEWS, Hart is a former five-time world champion and is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer. He has inspired many WWE Superstars that work for the company today with a number of them crediting him as a major reason in their journey to become a wrestler and joining this business.

Hart did not have a huge family background before becoming a wrestler. Son of legendary wrestler and promoter Stu Hart, who didn't achieve much success, but is still a WWE Hall of Famer from 2010.

Now, Bret Hart has created a huge background for his upcoming generation. Even though none of his children became wrestlers, his brothers and sisters were involved in the business and their children, Natalya and Tyson Kidd are also a part of the industry.

Ted DiBiase Jr. was one of the former WWE Superstars in the company. During his time, he was part of a successful group named 'The Legacy', of which Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton were members. He also became one half of World Tag Team Champion with Cody Rhodes twice, along with being the Million Dollar Champion.

His father Ted DiBiase Sr. was one of the most popular stars during his time in 1980s. He had one of the most successful careers in NWA after which he signed with WWE. He was a great heel who could put over any star, a major reasons as to why he never needed to win any major title.

However, the amount of success his father achieved, Ted DiBiase Jr. couldn't reach to that potential. Soon he moved over to the Independent circuit and after some time he retired from professional wrestling.

Randy Orton is one of the most popular WWE Superstars of all time. He is a former thirteen- time World Champion and has also won Royal Rumble twice. Orton has achieved every possible thing in this company and yet he still works to put over new upcoming stars.

He is the son of WWE Hall of Famer "Cowboy" Bob Orton. Although Bob Orton didn't achieve similar success like his son Randy Orton achieved, he was still successful in other promotions such as NWA, ICW and AWF. He also played the role of a manager for his son in 2006.

Now, Bob Orton hardy makes any appearances in WWE, when a pay-per-view takes place in St. Louis, Missouri (Orton's hometown) he sits in the crowd to watch his son's match. We can believe, Randy Orton turned out to be more big WWE Superstar than his father Bob Orton.

Cody Rhodes has had a great run in WWE, albeit as a mid-card star. Rhodes is a former six time tag team champion, three time Intercontinental Champion. However, he couldn't become World Champion and move to the main event scene, that saw him exit from WWE.

His father was WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes. Even though he didn't achieve anything much in WWE, he achieved a lot in NWA being their World Champion thrice. Apart from this, Dusty Rhodes was a brilliant mentor to many young WWE Superstars.

As for his son, he has co-started a new promotion named AEW which is slowly becoming a competition to WWE. Their first pay-per-view 'Double or Nothing' was a huge success with Cody competing against his brother Dustin Rhodes in an incredible match. By the looks of his current success, WWE might regret not pushing Cody as a main event star.

If you have to name the most successful WWE Superstar (whether on-screen or off-screen), it would be none other than The Rock. He has achieved a plethora of awards in WWE and is a former eight-time WWE World Champion and has also won the WCW Championship twice.

He is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson, another professional wrestler who only became a WWE tag team champion once. He achieved a lot of success in other promotions such as NWA, GCW, MACW and PNW.

A Royal Rumble champion in 2000, The Rock made a special appearance in the opening segment of Wrestlemania XXX along with Stone Cold Steve Austin and Hulk Hogan and later made only sporadic appearances on screen before moving over to Hollywood to become one of the richest actors in the world.
