3 Superstars Edge wants to face and 3 who want to face him

WWE Hall of Famer and 11-time World Champion Edge shocked the world when he made his return to the company after nine years during the Royal Rumble Match earlier this year. Edge would then go on to have a gruesome feud with Randy Orton which would result in two bouts between the two veterans of the industry.

The Rated-R Superstar got the better of The Viper at WrestleMania but Orton brought back the Punt Kick to overcome Edge at Backlash. It was during the second match that Edge suffered a torn triceps injury and has now been sidelined for the foreseeable future. However, he has made it clear that this is not the end of his career and we will seem him in a WWE ring again.

Edge is on the bucket list of several current WWE Superstars who would relish the opportunity to square it out with him when he returns. The Rated-R Superstar himself has named a few Superstars he'd like to go toe-to-toe with.

So on that note, let us look at three Superstars who Edge wants to face and three Superstars who want to face him.

#3 Edge wants to face: Finn Balor

The Prince of NXT

NXT's Robert Stone has been on the lookout for more associates for his Robert Stone Brand ever since he was fired by Chelsea Green. Recently, he wanted to collab with Edge and extended a hand on Twitter, asking if he would like to collab. The Rated-R Superstar minced no words and said that he wanted Stone to set up a match between him and Finn Balor among other things.

Balor has been doing great things ever since he moved back to NXT last year. He's already beaten the likes of Johnny Gargano, Keith Lee, Matt Riddle, and Tommaso Ciampa but has fallen short in title matches. The Prince of NXT has already responded to this request made by Edge:

"Somebody was talking online about possibly challenging Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver and that was Edge. I would like to address that situation right now, Edge was saying he wanted to face Finn Balor at TakeOver so if we could do it at TakeOver Dublin all the better."

It's rather unlikely that Edge will be back to full fitness by October this year which is when NXT TakeOver: Dublin is slated to be held. However, the seeds have been sown and we can see these two men face each other sometime in the near future.

#3 Wants to face Edge: Dolph Ziggler

Edge has already crossed paths with Dolph Ziggler in the past. In fact, one of his final feuds in WWE before his initial retirement in 2011 was against The ShowOff for the World Heavyweight Championship.

The storyline also involved Ziggler's on-screen girlfriend Vickie Guerrero and the duo had a memorable title match at Royal Rumble 2011. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Ziggler reminisced about the same and mentioned that he would love to have another opportunity to square off with Edge:

"And Edge, that Royal Rumble match [from 2011] we had was so cool...I can’t speak highly enough about Adam, and that is one of my absolute favorite matches, which also has to do with our history outside of the ring. If there is a chance where him and I get to go toe-to-toe in the ring again, I would love it."

Dolph Ziggler may not be the most decorated WWE Superstar, but he's an absolute workhorse. He had two incredible matches with Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules and then on the following RAW. So when Edge returns from his injury, the higher-ups might just grant The ShowOff's request.

#2 Edge wants to face: AJ Styles

Both AJ Styles and Edge are veterans of the pro wrestling industry with careers spanning more than two decades. While Edge has had a long career in WWE and stood his ground in front of several WWE legends, Styles made a name for himself all over the world before finally making it to the WWE in 2016. However, these two Superstars have not crossed paths even once

In an interview prior to WrestleMania this year, Edge lamented about the same:

"AJ Styles and Edge has to happen. In 25 years in the same industry, we've never touched. How is that possible?"

The Phenomenal One has lived up to the billing in WWE as well. He's just a tag title away from becoming a Grand Slam Champion too. Styles is currently elevating the mid-card as the Intercontinental Champion but once he's done with that run, he could put himself on a collision course with the Rated-R Superstar.

#2 Wants to face Edge: Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has history with Edge

One of the modern greats of WWE, Seth Rollins is currently turning a lot of heads on RAW with his conniving Monday Night Messiah gimmick. He's already caused much harm to a WWE legend in Rey Mysterio with the help of his disciples and one of his future targets could be a WWE Hall of Famer in Edge.

Back in 2014, Seth Rollins was the guest on an episode of the Cutting Edge Peep Show with Edge and Christian. Big Show joined the party and Rollins wiped out Captain Charisma before holding the Rated-R Superstar hostage. The ransom? Well, Rollins wanted John Cena to reinstate The Authority or else he'd break Edge's neck.

Combine the aforementioned storyline with the fact that Seth Rollins is back to his twisted ways as the Monday Night Messiah and there's enough to book the two together in a matchup. The duo also exchanged blows during this year's Royal Rumble so the seeds have already been sown for a potential program.

#1 Edge wants to face: Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns is still off WWE TV right now
Roman Reigns is still off WWE TV right now

Roman Reigns hasn't been seen on WWE TV since backing out of the Universal Championship match against Goldberg at WrestleMania 36. However, he did have a good showing during the Men's Royal Rumble Match earlier this year where he spoiled Edge's return party by eliminating the Rated-R Superstar.

Speaking in an interview, Edge only had kind words for Reigns but mentioned that he could exactly be what Roman Reigns needs for a feud:

"Guy like Roman Reigns, man, he's special. He's a leader, and he needs other leaders, and that's what I can be. We felt a little bit of that at the Rumble, too."

Roman Reigns vs Edge will be a dream match for most members of the WWE Universe but seems unlikely as of today. Both Superstars are bonafide babyfaces and a feud between the two would immediately make Reigns the villain because of the respect that Edge commands from fans as Hall of Famer. WWE has had their fair share of troubles in making The Big Dog over with the crowds, so I'm not sure this is a risk that WWE Creative will be willing to take.

#1 Wants to face Edge: Drew McIntyre

This year's Royal Rumble wasn't just a special occasion for Edge. It was also one of the biggest cornerstones of Drew McIntyre's career. The Scottish Terminator went on to win the Rumble match to earn a shot at Brock Lesnar's WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36 and eventually conquered The Beast to win his first world title in the company.

In a conversation with Sportskeeda's own Rick Ucchino, McIntyre went on to express his interest in facing the Rated-R Superstar

"You know Edge had this amazing career. I was thankful that I traveled the world with him. Learned a lot from him as a kid, but to see him back... of course the wheels started turning. And I thought to myself, 'Oh yea, we're going to have that big match.' And I'm absolutely ready for that big match now, you know, physically and mentally."

In the meantime, the current WWE Champion looks set for a match against The Viper Randy Orton at SummerSlam later this year. You can check out the video above to find out why exactly McIntyre wants to work with Orton.
