Seth Rollins, the WWE Universal Champion, was picked as the captain for Team Hogan at Crown Jewel during the "season premiere" of Monday Night Raw. However, it appears that plans have changed as WWE announced his removal from the match due to his ongoing feud with the Fiend. Therefore, he will not be pulling double duty at Crown Jewel on October 31st.
This announcement could change a lot of things about the Team Hogan vs. Team Flair match. Since Rollins was a big star, it will be hard to replace him. Would they pick Kofi Kingston? Roman Reigns? We will know about the replacement soon.
The other big question is regarding his removal from the match. Fans know that Rollins has worked double duty in the past, and it's no surprise he was initially put in this predicament. But the sudden removal raises a lot of questions. Hence, in this article, we will look at three theories for his removal from the match.
#3. To make the Fiend match more competitive
Seth Rollins continued his rivalry with the Fiend when he burnt down the firefly funhouse on this week's Raw. Subsequently, the two men will face off in a falls count anywhere match at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia.
Their last match got a poor reception from the fans, due to the questionable ending inside the Cell. Fans also felt that the Fiend should have been victorious, as well. Therefore, it makes one wonder if WWE will do the right thing at Crown Jewel and crown Bray Wyatt as the Universal Champion.
To make that match appear more competitive, they needed to remove Rollins from Team Hogan. Here's why, If Rollins retains his title at the PPV, despite being in the tag match earlier, it would be disastrous for the Fiend. It will damage the aura of Wyatt if he can't defeat an exhausted Rollins.
But WWE can avoid that by placing the title match before the tag team match. Even then, fans would boo Rollins louder when he comes out for the tag match, or even worse, fans at home might stop watching. However, if the Fiend is victorious, it would take away from the moment if Rollins had already been through another match.
Therefore, to avoid all the minor issues, they removed Rollins from Team Hogan.
#2. To allow someone else to get momentum
Seth Rollins is a top star and one of the best in WWE over the last few years. He is an established name that doesn't need to be in this match. However, there are a lot of other wrestlers on the roster who are looking for a boost of momentum. They have been halted and are stuck in their places. Therefore, an opportunity like this would be a great way to ignite their careers.
A name that comes to mind is Kofi Kingston, who recently lost his WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar in humiliating fashion. It looks like WWE does not have solid plans for him going forward. Hence, this match could be useful for him to get some momentum back from the squash.
Another name that comes to mind is Kevin Owens, who recently got drafted to Raw. He is a babyface who needs to maintain his hot run after firing Shane McMahon; being on Team Hogan would help his case.
There are quite a few other wrestlers who could fill up the spot. They will certainly come out of this program with more star power than they went in. Therefore, it is evident why Seth Rollins doesn't need to be in the match.

Fans have mixed feelings about that segment, but in general, Rollins has been subject to a lot of hate from fans lately. Something hasn't been clicking between Rollins and the WWE Universe. Despite being the top babyface in the company for a while, the fans aren't into him as much as they once were.
Some fans have voiced their thoughts by booing him regularly and want him to turn heel. After Hell in a Cell, Rollins said that he went to a place that he never thought he would. The Fiend could just be trying to get Seth to see his true dark nature inside himself.
The firefly funhouse was one of the most beloved segments of Raw. Having Rollins burn it down wasn't done to elicit cheers from the crowd. This could just be the sign that Rollins is on the verge of turning heel. It could happen in the form of a double turn with The Fiend turning babyface as well.
Such a heel cannot be in the babyface Team Hogan. Therefore, he was taken out to allow someone else to take the spot.
