Fastlane 2019 : 3 things that Finn Balor can do at this WWE PPV

The Extraordinary Man Who Does Extraordinary Things, Finn Balor, won the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber from Bobby Lashley last month. The leader of the Balor Club has had a good reign thus far on the red brand, but he could not make it to the match card of the last stop before WrestleMania, WWE Fastlane.

On the road to Fastlane, he fought in multiple tag team matches along with defending his title once against the Man of the Hour, Lio Rush. However, he will not be putting his title on the line at Fastlane.

While WWE has already announced 7 matches for the Fastlane main show, there can always be a last minute change. Here are the 3 things that Balor can do on Sunday.

#3 Defend his Intercontinental Championship in an Open Challenge

Finn Balor can bring back the Intercontinental Championship Open Challenge just like how former United States Champions brought back the US Title Open Challenge. He can simply come out and issue an open challenge to anyone backstage to try and take the title from him.

There are a lot of RAW superstars like Jinder Mahal, Mojo Rawley, and Tyler Breeze who can accept the challenge. Also, since its a dual branded pay-per-view, someone from SmackDown Live like Cesaro, Kofi Kingston or R-Truth can fight with Finn. The recent NXT call-up Johnny Gargano can also answer the open challenge, or a returning Sami Zayn can collide with Balor in a dream match.

The possibilities are innumerable and all WWE has to do is allow the champion Finn Balor to go out in the middle of the ring and issue an open challenge for the Intercontinental title.

#2 Join the Shield

Elias has been an integral part of The Shield vs Dogs of War 2.0 feud but the Drifter was not included in the tag team match between the two groups scheduled to take place on Sunday.

However, he can be added to the heel faction just to stack the odds against the Shield. Though the Shield do not require a 4th member to dismantle the heels, Triple H could add another member to level the odds. When the Shield and the heel faction would be out waiting for the final participant of the match, Finn Balor would come out to a huge pop.

Balor can play a vital role in this match and will gain a ton of momentum from standing tall with the faces at the end of this match.

#1 Confront his WrestleMania opponent backstage

Will John Cena return to fight for the title that he has never won in his career?
Will John Cena return to fight for the title that he has never won in his career?

WrestleMania 35 will be the biggest night of Finn Balor's WWE career as for the first time, Balor will head into the Grandest Stage of Them All as a champion. In his previous WrestleMania appearance, the leader of the Balor Club was a part of the triple threat Intercontinental Championship match, also involving Seth Rollins and The Miz.

However, this time he is the Intercontinental Champion. His feud with Lashley and Lio Rush has become stale. WWE should plan a new storyline for the Intercontinental Championship.

The backstage officials have not decided John Cena's WrestleMania opponent yet and it would be great if they insert him in a feud with Balor. They even have a valid reason to put Cena in this match as the Intercontinental Championship is the only title that he has not won in his illustrious career.

John Cena can make a surprise appearance this Sunday where he can have a confrontation with his WrestleMania opponent to kick off their feud.
