3 things WWE got right on this week's SmackDown Live, and 2 things they got wrong (27 November 2018)

The Man returned to SmackDown Live this week

This week's episode of WWE SmackDown Live is done and dusted, and it was truly one to remember. We saw a huge return by The Man, as well as some shocking attacks by multiple superstars.

With TLC looming, the men and women of Team Blue certainly wanted to make an impression, with a certain Empress stepping up to the plate, becoming the third woman in an already epic TLC match at the pay per view.

Now on the road to Tables, Ladders, and Chairs, the pay per view is the last chance for the superstars to dominate on pay per view in 2018, before the Royal Rumble next month, and the road to WrestleMania 35.

Here are three things the WWE got spot on in the latest episode of WWE SmackDown Live, as well as two things which could've been a whole lot better.

#3 Got it right: The Man, The Queen, and the Empress

Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Asuka. Arguably the three best women on SmackDown Live, and three of the best women in all of WWE today.

At TLC, this trio will square off for Lynch's SmackDown Women's Championship, in what is sure to be an entertaining match.

The fans haven't seen Lynch get physical for weeks, after she was concussed on the go-home RAW for Survivor Series.

Similarly, Asuka has fallen far down the WWE hierarchy, a real shame when you consider her being a massive star at one point in her career, as well as her incredible undefeated streak.

Alongside Charlotte Flair who is already a proven main-eventer, the trio definitely will impress at TLC, and this week's SmackDown was right to have Asuka join the two, after winning a battle royale.

#2 Got it wrong: Big Show leaving The Bar

When Big Show aligned himself with the SmackDown Tag Champions, Sheamus and Cesaro, fans were pretty confused.

Show hadn't been seen on TV for seemingly a year, but the trio did entertain, with Show helping the Europeans capture the titles on SmackDown 1000.

Now, just weeks after joining, Show has seemingly left the group, in a bizarre pre-taped segment.

While this I guess will allow for Sheamus and Cesaro to showcase themselves more, it does seem strange that the 7-footer would so abruptly leave the group.

Perhaps this is marking the end of his career on-screen, as the giant's size must no doubt be hurting him in his day to day life.

If so, a move to a backstage role may just be what Show needs, though it won't make his suddenly leaving The Bar any less awkward.

#2 Got it right: The Miz is still awesome in defeat

The Miz loses once again
The Miz loses once again

When The Miz lost last week to two nobodies on SmackDown Live, things could not have been worse for the A-Lister.

At least this week, The Miz faced an actual WWE Superstar in Kofi Kingston, though still came up short against the New Day member.

Whilst this doesn't bode well for The Miz, it is still a great sign to see him each and every week, as Miz has proven himself over his long WWE career to be one of the company's most trustworthy superstars.

It even looks like Miz will be feuding with Shane McMahon in the near future, perhaps building towards a match at WrestleMania 35.

Whilst I personally would rather see The Miz with championship gold soon, this feud and losing streak does still allow WWE's resident Johnny Cage to steal the spotlight each week.

#1 Got it wrong: AJ Styles

Don't get me wrong, I love AJ Styles, and I really enjoyed his reign as WWE Champion.

But in his first appearance this week since losing the title, there was something missing from The Phenomenal One, and it wasn't just the WWE Championship.

Styles vowed to regain the title at TLC against the new heel Daniel Bryan, though honestly, I felt the promo was a bit flat.

Styles has always been solid on the mic, and improved as WWE Champion, but this moment from Styles didn't exactly sell me his disdain for the YES! Movement Leader, who has now turned his back on his fans.

I'm sure their match at TLC will be excellent (whatever stipulation it is given), but this promo didn't make me any more excited to see these two face-off more than I already was.

#1 Got it right: Samoa Joe crashes the Hardy party

This week, the men and women of SmackDown Live rightly celebrated the career of Jeff Hardy, who marked 20 years since his WWE debut.

Hardy, who returned last year, has arguably had his best success on SmackDown, winning his first singles title on the show in 2001, as well as three World Championships as a SmackDown Superstar.

Of course, this all came crashing down when Samoa Joe appeared, ruining Jeff's moment by bringing up his personal demons.

This is definitely a step in the right direction for Joe, who fans were worried would lose his spot after coming up short against AJ Styles repeatedly in their feud over the WWE Championship.

Thankfully, the former NXT Champion is still being showcased prominently on the blue brand, and will no doubt have an entertaining feud with The Charismatic Enigma.
