3 Things WWE should do with Roman Reigns

The ongoing Roman Reigns story has been interesting, especially as of late. Despite once being one of the most hated wrestlers in WWE, Reigns has turned the tables and finds himself in an ideal position on SmackDown Live. Fans are now solidly behind him and continue to cheer him on at every show.

After feuding with Erick Rowan and Luke Harper, Reigns was chosen as the captain of the babyface Team Hogan. At Crown Jewel 2019, Team Hogan won the match with 'The Big Dog's' help.

Fans have been speculating about what's next for Reigns on SmackDown. He could continue to wrestle in the mid-card against different heels or could soon find himself in the Universal Championship picture. If Reigns does pursue the Universal Championship, the move would not come without risk, as Reigns might alienate some fans in the process.

We'll examine three possible routes WWE could go with Roman Reigns heading forward. What do you think of these? Do you think Reigns should win another title? Feel free to let us know in the comments section below.

#3. Suffer some setbacks

Roman Reigns is WWE's proverbial Superman and has always been booked exceptionally strong in the company. The reason fans rejected him years ago was because of how easily he overcame everything. It reminded fans of John Cena's monster push, and it didn't take long for Reigns to become hated.

'The Big Dog' recently suffered some key setbacks in his feud against Erick Rowan, Daniel Bryan, and Luke Harper, which is good. Having setbacks allows him to appear more human, which in turn makes him more relatable to fans, who tend to cheer Superstars who have a lot to overcome. WWE shouldn't refrain from adding more setbacks for Reigns and should continue booking him in such a fashion.

Creative could even have Reigns take a few losses against some credible opponents. All this will only help Reigns in the end. Fans want to see him overcome adversity through hard work and determination on his way back up the championship rankings.

#2. Keep him away from The Fiend

The Fiend
The Fiend

Something WWE should avoid doing is slotting Roman Reigns in the Universal Championship picture anytime soon. Ever since returning after battling leukemia, Reigns has been in the mid-card scene helping the likes of Rowan get established. Fans have been behind Reigns more than ever, and it might all do down the drain, if he feuds with newly crowned Universal Champion The Fiend.

If the feud does happen, Reigns may start getting disliked by fans again for obvious reasons. First, The Fiend is the hottest character in all of WWE, maybe even all of wrestling at the moment, and anyone who goes against him is likely to be booed. A feud with Wyatt would ensure that Reigns would take a huge hit to his newfound popularity.

Second, Reigns doesn't need to be Universal Champion right now. He's been away from that scene for a while now, and that should continue. Not only does it allow fresh characters a chance in the spotlight, but it also allows fans to yearn for Reigns to make his way back to the top.

It's only best for Reigns, if creative keeps he and The Fiend apart - at least for now.

#1. Crown him Intercontinental Champion

In the previous slide, I mentioned that Roman Reigns should stay away from the Universal Championship picture at the moment. However, he should compete for the Intercontinental Championship. Since his return, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to state that WWE has booked him to perfection. This new version of Reigns is beloved by fans, which is heartwarming to see since he was so despised only a few short years ago.

At last month's Crown Jewel PPV, Reigns won the match for team Hogan when he pinned Randy Orton. Subsequently, he is scheduled to face Baron Corbin on this week's edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Whether the two have an extended feud remains to be seen, but Reigns should be put in a feud against Shinsuke Nakamura soon.

They faced each other two weeks ago, and fans were completely behind Reigns, but the match ended in a DQ. If that was a test by WWE to see how the people react to Reigns in a title match, then it's safe to say 'The Big Dog' passed with flying colors.

WWE should book Reigns to win the Intercontinental Championship, as such a move would only enhance the mid-card and bring more prestige back to the title.
