3 Twists WWE could be planning for NXT this week

After a brilliant win at Survivor Series and a successful show last week, NXT will now look to keep up the same excitement about the product with their show tonight.

We already know that Rhea Ripley is squaring off against Dakota Kai, whereas Killian Dain and Damian Priest are once again gearing up to lock horns on the Black and Gold brand. Meanwhile, Adam Cole and the Undisputed Era are expected to address Finn Balor’s actions from last week.

Triple H has done a fantastic job with the brand so far and NXT is slowly making its way to the top of the pro-wrestling business. Their success at the battle of the brands followed by a good show last week helped establish the Black and Gold brand as a force to reckon with.

In order to top the ratings once again, NXT must be planning a few surprises for fans on tonight’s show. In this article, we will take a look at three possible twists that could happen on NXT this week.

#3 Shayna Baszler backs Dakota Kai against Rhea Ripley

Could Dakota Kai find a new friend tonight?

Dakota Kai shocked the world with her heel turn at NXT Takeover: WarGames. After having left Rhea Ripley high and dry, she is now set to face the latter in a singles match tonight.

Ripley will look to avenge the betrayal that left her shorthanded against Shayna Baszler and her team in the first-ever Women’s WarGames match. But before that, Ripley had to make a choice between Mia Yim and Dakota Kai for the fourth member of her team. She chose Yim which prompted Kai to turn on her friends in their hour of need.

Incidentally, ahead of that, Baszler openly stated that Kai doesn’t deserve to be a part of the historic match. But currently, they are both feuding with Ripley who is quickly making her way to the top of the Women’s division.

It could be possible that tonight, we will see Baszler backing Kai against Ripley even though they have a long history of unpleasant encounters.

#2 Pete Dunne interferes & brutalizes Killian Dain

One more time?

Killian Dain tormented the entire NXT roster for weeks, owing to his wrath that destructed everything that stood in his way. He even attacked Damian Priest in the process and that prompted a rivalry between the two Superstars.

Tonight, Dain and Priest are set to lock horns in a singles match. However, former NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne might make his presence known by attacking Dain during their match. The three were engaged in a brutal Triple Threat match at Takeover: WarGames, but that bout was far from putting an end to the vicious feud between Dunne and Dain.

Dain has attacked Dunne on multiple occasions and tonight might be the night when the latter returns the favor. After all, he was significantly targeted by Dain for breaking his fingers and might want to extend this feud until one of them accepts defeat.

#1 Set up a Triple Threat match for the NXT Championship

Adam Cole is currently feuding with Tommaso Ciampa as the latter has his eyes set on the NXT Championship. However, it is quite possible for us to see a new name added to that equation after tonight.

For weeks, creative teased a possible alliance between the Undisputed Era and Finn Balor, but it all changed last week. After Cole helped ‘The Prince’ pick up a victory over Tommaso Ciampa in the main event of NXT last Wednesday, Balor attacked Cole and confirmed that he is the lone wolf on the roster.

This is bound to imitate a feud between Cole and Balor which could turn into an NXT Championship feud. Having Finn Balor, Adam Cole and Tommaso Ciampa compete for the NXT Championship will spark multiple engaging storylines that will ultimately see a brutal bout transpire inside the squared circle.

WWE might lay the foundation for this feud tonight when Cole addresses Balor’s action on the show.
