Every member of the WWE Universe has a certain Superstar in mind that they want to see receive a push in the company. WWE has a stacked roster, so it's not possible for every wrestler to get a push, even though we think they deserve it.

Vince McMahon and his creative team determine who gets pushed and how they get pushed, and sometimes (or most of the time) their choices are met with disapproval from fans and critics. There are a handful of Superstars who have recently been pushed because WWE was forced to change their decision due to the fans while other Superstars were pushed regardless of what the fans wanted.

When WWE goes against what the fans want and they push the wrong Superstars while burying the deserving ones, they often have to pay the price because viewership for Raw and SmackDown Live drops and attendances for live events reduce as well. Since fans can often be fickle and end up turning on the same Superstars who got pushed because they wanted them to, this makes it a bit challenging for WWE to understand what their audience really wants.

That said, here are three WWE Superstars who accidentally received a push this year and two Superstars that Vince McMahon personally wants to push.

#5 Accidently received a push: Sasha Banks

The Boss is back!
The Boss is back!

Sasha Banks and Bayley lost their WWE Women's Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania against The IIconics, and according to rumors, they were very unhappy with the decision to lose their titles which led to Sasha Banks wanting to quit WWE. Banks was nowhere to be seen in the months following WrestleMania and no one was quite sure if she would return to the WWE ring again.

The Internet Wrestling Community started speculating as to when she would make her comeback and many sites reported that she would return at Extreme Rules and later SummerSlam but that turned out to be inaccurate. The Legit Boss made her return on the Raw after The Biggest Party of the Summer where she turned heel by attacking Natalya and then Becky Lynch.

Banks is now involved in a feud with Becky Lynch and it is likely that the two will collide at Clash of Champions for the Raw Women's Championship. If Sasha didn't take some time off after WrestleMania, it's unlikely that she would've received this push. She probably would've still been involved in a tag team with Bayley and the two could've been chasing the Women's Tag Team Championships.

#4 Vince McMahon wants to push: Kevin Owens

Fight Owens Fight
Fight Owens Fight

Kevin Owens is one of the biggest babyfaces on the Blue Brand right now and his feud with Shane McMahon was likened to the Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Vince McMahon rivalry during the Attitude Era. Owens portrayed a heel for the majority of his career in WWE and now he is a fan favorite. Vince McMahon has always been high on Kevin Owens.

The Prizefighter even attacked the chairman and left him bloodied in late 2017. That tells us how much Vince trusts Owens. According to Sports Illustrated, Owens is allowed to go off-script in his promos. Unlike the majority of other Superstars, KO's promos aren't fully written for him by the creative team.

Only a select few WWE Superstars are entrusted to go in the ring and speak their mind. Vince no doubt has a big push planned for Owens and who knows? Maybe a WWE Championship is in store for the latter in the future.

#3 Accidently received a push: Kofi Kingston

What was an unfortunate injury for Ali turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the current WWE Champion Kofi Kingston. After replacing the former 205 Live Superstar in the Elimination Chamber match at the PPV of the same name, Kingston won the heart of every member of the WWE Universe and the crowd in the arena cheered him throughout the match.

After that, a match was set up between Kofi and Daniel Bryan for WWE's most prestigious championship at Fastlane but Kofi was later replaced by a returning Kevin Owens. #KofiMania was born and as they say, the rest is history.

WWE was once again forced to change their plans and Kofi Kingston challenged Bryan for the WWE Championship at the Show of Shows, which was originally supposed to be Kevin Owens. Kingston won the match & the title and fans all over the world erupted in glee. This moment will undoubtedly go down as one of the most memorable moments in recent WrestleMania history.

#2 Vince McMahon wants to push: The Fiend

The Fiend Bray Wyatt
The Fiend Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt's new Fiend character is the best thing in WWE right now. Wyatt was praised for his performance in the Firefly Funhouse segments and everyone was talking about The Fiend after SummerSlam. The character has the potential to be something huge if WWE books him correctly. Wyatt is no doubt going to receive a big push and Vince doesn't want it to fail.

The company has gone to new lengths to come up with ideas outside the box to make the character successful, as seen in the Funhouse and his new entrance theme. Vince certainly knows how big this could be, so he wouldn't want to waste it. So far, The Fiend has attacked several WWE Hall of Famers and he is also rumored to face Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at the Hell in a Cell PPV.

#1 Accidently received a push: Buddy Murphy

WWE's Best Kept Secret
WWE's Best Kept Secret

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy is no longer sitting in the locker room waiting to make his SmackDown Live debut. Murphy is currently involved in a storyline with Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan and Rowan and his first match on the Blue Brand with Roman Reigns was praised by many fans and critics. The Big Dog put Murphy over during the match as the Aussie came out looking like a star.

The following week on SmackDown, The Best Kept Secret pinned the former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. The storyline is based on someone wanting to hurt Roman Reigns and according to rumors, Murphy wasn't supposed to be involved in the storyline at all. WWE decided to include him once fans began speculating on his involvement with the scaffolding incident.

Murphy is no doubt going to be a big star, and according to the said rumor, it all started because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time, but it turned out to be a blessing for him anyway.
